Framing Terminology

To Fit

The window in a mount (mat) should overlap the atrwork, and will therefore be smaller than the artpiece. A frame will require a small allowance for expansion and contraction. So if a job is ordered with supplied measurements "to fit", the framer will incorporate the correct allowances. (as opposed to "exact" sizes)
