Frame Weight and Hook Placement
When hanging a picture by a cord or wire, the placement of the hook, or preferably hooks, has a significant effect on the loading experienced by the frame fixings and the sides of the frame rim. The following diagram shows the effective loads experienced by wall hanging points for different cord angles. It can be clearly seen from the diagram that the use of two wall fixings with a cord angle of 60 degrees considerably reduces the downward load on the wall hooks.
