Thanks for suggestions, Palitana! :) It's only the modified head gizmo that damages the moulding. With the standard Cassese bungs, I don't get dents, but I find it difficult to get a really tight join at the top of the moulding. Bit concerned about only pinning the outer edge of the moulding: my und...

Scoop mouldings are easier to join if you make a small "jig" from the same scoop moulding you are wanting to join. Thanks, Mark - I get the idea. Will give it a go! BTW, I'm finding this thread very helpful. This type of information will be invaluable in making the best decisions on futur...

this is an area where we have to think for ourselves ... it is hard to know where to turn for unbiased information. A very valid point, John. Is it possible for any journalist/filmmaker to be completely objective? :? For anyone that might like to gen up on the Peak Oil debate, here are a couple of ...

While we're on the subject of Cassese underpinners, is there any way of making life easier when joining scoop mouldings. I tried one of those gizmos with the magnetic head from Lion, but found it a PITA to use, and it dented the mouldings. :?

It is hard at times to not get passionate about a subject..., but once you click the return button its out there. So much of our communication is non-verbal, and it does make text-only communication very tricky at times. (Part of the reason why my posts tend to be a bit wordy and bordering on emoti...

Hi Martin, Belated congratulations on your 30th. Another very happy Lion customer here! It is difficult for me to attend trade events in the UK for two reasons: (a) Travel time and cost. (b) Being a one-man-band, I would have to close for a few days. Whilst I think both ideas have their merits, the ...

"Live" Earth????

Was a bit naughty today: snuck the portable telly into the workshop to catch some of the coverage of Live Earth. ( Bad cheetah !!) The two acts I r-e-a-l-l-y wanted to see were the Duranies and Genesis* ( seriously showing my age here!). When did my customers decide to descend en masse ? ......

Thats a relief! I thought I was the only one who paid attention to the pictures on display in Films and on the TV. I'm the same. Just can't help it! As a framing newbie, I sometimes spot really attractive designs on telly and find myself scrambling for a pencil and paper to make reference sketches....

Thanks, NYAF. A very valuable feature comparison! I have an Ultimat Gold, (it was recommended by Sisslings from whom I purchased my start-up equipment). I had a go on a Fletcher machine when I did my training - limited use, I know, but my feeling was that my Keencut is less finnicky to use. It did t...
