Tape Question

I have got into the habit of "sealing" the artwor by taping all the way round the glass and undermount, with the mount(s) and artwork between. I find that if this is done there is little or no chance of dust/particles getting inside when fitting the frame and backboard. I am using the drea...

Re: Groom Stick HELLLLP!!

I'm sure that you have thought of this one, but, looking at the photo, can you not cut a new mount cutting inside the marking!??

The signatures look as if they are on the print and not the mount.

Re: Questions questions questions!

Crikey, you're up early!!

I've a couple of these and they are very clear and up to date. Definitly to be recommended. By the way do you know how much the set is, I think they are around £15.00 each individually.

An essential part of any framer would be:

"Guild Commended Framer Study Guide" published by the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Available from the FATG at http://www.fineart.co.uk/Trade/GCF/GCF_ ... _Exam.aspx

Do They Exist??

I went to have a look at a potential job today and was shown into a room with a snooker table and on the snooker table was a piece of 3mm perspex 1.8m long x .95m wide. It had been painted using transparent type paints and had pieces of dried flowers and grass which had been sort of encapsulated in ...

Re: What Would You Suggest!?

Hi markw Thanks for the info. I think next time I will use 2mm glass, it was close to 1 m2 used and because the frame, in the end with the bracing, was fairly rigid it would have been preferable. Well spotted with the rolling wrinkles, they were there but the flash on the camera seemed to exaggerate ...

Re: Flag Frame

Phew! that's a relief :giggle:

It did actually look better on the other side of the flag ie. the stitching looked more finished, "Tel Aviv" as Del-Boy would say

Re: Flag Frame

Flag finished! looked ok in the end but very big (approx. 5ft x 4ft) and very heavy. After tagging to the back-board it didn't lay flat so there were the inevitable waves in the material but you could say this added to the effect. (sales talk)

Re: What Would You Suggest!?

In the end the print was Hinged using Cotton Rag Archival Gum Tape, 45mm mount all round, (Artcore) and framed in a simple white, deep rebated surround. No sign of cockling or waving, and there was a lot of work on the back because of the weight of the 3mm glass. (Belt and Braces!!) Thanks for the a...

Re: How would you mount this?

Hi

I also had a similar job recently, on an Egyptian print. I float mounted on to acid free 10mm foamboard and framed it in a 15mm box frame with a black back and a black mount. Looked really good. (well the customer was pleased)
