Re: Selling Online

Thanks for the reply John, It's going to be a while before it's up and running, we made the decision to go 100% hand finished as those sales were far outweighing the finished mouldings and it's so much easier to stock! We supply some photographers and we do post frames to them without any issues so ...

Re: Selling Online

Well, it's worth a try then. It's costing me nothing other than the time it takes to put all the products on.

Re: Selling Online

I've so much more to add other than products but a shell with 2 frames is here: www.craftedframes.com

I send out frames by post quite a bit for clients an I use perspex. I've yet to have any damages.

Selling Online

I'm currently revamping my website and was wondering how many of you sell online?

I do have other online shops so I'm well versed in the regulations as far as returns are concerned but I'm wondering if framing is something that lends itself well to online sales.

Re: Prints for resale

Hi guys, and thanks for the replies.

I would like to sell in my shop as well as online but have the opportunity to supply retailers too as I have good connections in this area.

I'm looking to buy some prints to frame and sell, standard as well as limited edition - can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: chop service

For us it was mainly a way to dip our toes into the business with very little investment, and it made it an excellent bolt on to our regular work.

Re: chop service

We stock bare wood moldings only for hand finished stuff and order everything else chop. I would rather spend someone elses money.

Re: High St Framers Disappearing!

Photographers are very fussy when it comes to printing so calibration is very important. There are a lot of online printers that are very good and reasonable. Rather than invest the thousands it would take to compete it may be easier to have your images printed and sent to you for framing, allowing ...

Re: What has happened to this photo?

Unfortunately scanning will leave a muddy looking image, so it's not much of a fix.

Re: What has happened to this photo?

Hello,

I print regularly in a darkroom (I have done for many years) and this print hasn't been washed for long enough. It's a common problem if there hasn't been flowing water used in the wash and fix has built up.

Re: Pricing Frames For Photographers.

My local framer gives me no discount at all.

In saying that I sell mainly canvas and MDF / Acrylic blocks. I only make 10% of my own frames but now do all my own mounting and I created a hand finished range that I sell for a premium and it's going well.

Re: copyright question

Hiya,

If you owned the original for 70 years after the artists death you could copy away, the copyright then passes to you or whoever happens to own it at that point.

In short, you can't print it without breaking copyright laws.
