LION FRAMERS EVENT - September 27th

Lion are staging a special Framers Event in their Birmingham warehouse on Sunday Sept 27th, 11 - 4.

There will be a number of seminars on specialist framing techniques and the business of framing. There will be a wide range of active demonstrations as well as displays by self-publishing artists. We will be introducing some significant new products and giving away samples and Lion technical staff will be on hand to discuss any issues you may have with equipment.

Patrick Giraud, md of Daler-Rowney Ltd, will be making a presentation reflecting on the current situation of the framing and mountboard market and opportunities for the future.

Each business attending and registering by email to info@lionpic before Sept 23rd will receive a £10 credit voucher on arrival on 27th. So, that should cover the cost of your fuel.

Refreshments will be served and there is easy parking.

Hi Martin

Could you expand a bit on what the program for the day contains!!!

Depending on the content, I may fly over for the day.

Ryanair have a 6.30am flight in and there is the option of Aerlingus or Ryanair back to Dublin at about 7.30 to 8.00pm, it can be booked today for around €50.00 return including taxes.

Many thanks

Well, seeing as you asked:

Patrick Giraud, md of Daler-Rowney Ltd, will make the keynote address, discussing the current state of the mountboard market and opprotunities for the future.

The seminar leaders are still being put into place, and we want to have a balance of practical and business subjects.

Two self-publishing artists will be here, and Sue McDonagh is a great speaker who will enthrall anyone who listens to her.

Rolling demos will include Roy Rowlands demonstrating Fletcher mountcutters and Sarah Osborne showing the very latest auto-head Gunnar machine. Sue Selwood is immersing herself in the amazing Liquid Metal range of 18 metallic colours, and you'll have an opportunity to try these yourself. Computer pricing and visualisation will be there and working.

Julia Smyth will be running an all-day Fine Print clinic for those working with inkjet printing on paper and canvas, and will be demionstrating the superb new 'Lyve' inkjet canvas from Breathing Colour. A Canon tech expert will be on hand.

Lion will be introducing the new range of Inmes underpinners as well as a new range of picture hangers developed from the CWH concept. There should be a fair number of freebies and good food.

And more yet to be announced. And we are only 20mins form the airport.

I'm in ...............Egypt that week if all goes to plan.......... so unable to join you unless you would like to move the date forward a week?

I am actually really sorry as given your guest speakers/demonstrators this looks like the best framing event of the year. Far better, in fact, than the seminar programme at Springfair this year.

Wishing you a successful event.

John.

This is an annoyingly good line-up. I'll be in the midst of 16 hour days at the end of September. Its 2 weeks before all the London art fairs and so my busiest time of the year.

Martin could you move it to late October next year? :D

Tomato sandwiches all round! Yes, we'll arrange some nice vegie food, but vegan would be more difficult.

Are we going to make an overnight out of it and have dinner!!!! Saturday or Sunday night works for me.

I would need to book another flight with if we are going to do that, I would need to do that soon.

Suggest we go for a hotel in Birmingham itself, I stayed at Jury’s in February when my flight was cancelled it is very nice. http://birminghamhotels.jurysinns.com/

I've printed out the pdf booking form and will post it tomorrow - I'd email it, which was a suggested option but have absolutely no idea how to do that from that type of file - right mouse clicks don't work.

But at least I can come back from my technophobia with this ...

It's not Framer's Event - that's singular punctuation - it's Framers' Event

(BTW - that apostrophe would be nice above - 'The Framers' Forum') - we'd be one up on The Grumble!

For the first week or so that was how the new forum was titled, but search engine optimisation won out over nit-picking pedantry when it was realised that nobody was going to be typing 'Framers' Forum' into Google.

It should be pointed out that grammatically the title is not incorrect. It indicates that this is a forum of framers. The apostrophe simply shifts the meaning to a forum "owned" by framers. Come to think of it, it could be argued that "Framer's" (belonging to a framer) would be equally valid.

When the change was made from Framers' to Framers, we had one pm pointing out the "mistake".

Doesn't that depend on how many framers attend?

I think John is correct, but it is a very good point about apostrophes and web search engines.

So, whether it's before the S or after the S, or not there at all, the Event is already looking to be be an interesting and very popular day out.
