I would go with what justintime has suggested, how much space are you allowing for the tray frame gap?
You could always fit a spacer around the outside sides of the canvas this will cover the nails and canvas sides to tidy things up.

There is wessex B1590 but slightly wider @ 25mm wide 20mm deep

If the bottom blades are that tight i would recommend removing the top blades before you try giving the bottom blades any force to remove as if you slip with force next to the top blades you could be in a lot of trouble,
