Closing Down, Equipment for Sale
Due to a very greedy landlord, I'm closing my framing business on 28th Feb this year and have most of my equipment for sale. Most items will be available for collection from 1st March, delivery may be possible in some cases. HotPress HGP 260 vaccum press with assorted materials including unimount ti...

Re: CMC choices
Some interesting comments here, although one or two ill-informed! Most CMC's do pretty much everything a framer could want day to day, but the area where some win hands down over others is ease of use and back up from the supplier. I've used a Wizard and now have a Gunnar F1xl, build quality is supe...

Re: Customers who like to haggle...
New customer came in yesterday, I was feeling a bit under the weather but the conversation went a bit like this........ Me, "That mount and frame combination comes out at £165.80 inc vat sir" Cust, "Do I get any discount off that?" Me, "why would you get any discount, Sir?&q...

Re: The Cheek of Some People!
We had a regular customer not collect her order for months, when she finally came in she said she couldn't collect because she was a bit short of cash. But, in the next breath she asked if i would give her a raffle prize for an event she was having to promote her business! When I declined and said I...

Re: Beer mats
Without bringing down the wrath of others, what sort of standard of job does the customer want and have you priced all the additional work that window mounting would entail? After all, these are beer mats, throw away promotional items which are printed on rough card more noted for its absorbancy tha...

Re: Pricing using the artists own moulding??
I regularly get asked this, probably because I'm in the centre of London and most artists have heard of a firm over in 'ackney who wil serve anyone. I too find it offensive and always say no. I learnt the hard way in the past that if you do it once as a "favour" it will certainly come arou...

Re: Guitar Framing advice needed!!
Take a trip to your local guitar shop, they should have a metal bracket which is designed to screw to the wall and hang the guitar from the headstock. Probably cost around £10-15 or maybe less! If you want to get really flash, buy a cheap capo, fix that to the bracket and use the strap to hold the g...

Re: Calling London framers
Interesting there has been no mention of wine. In Australia I suspect most framers are wine drinkers. Might have to do a little looking into that as well. Could you imagine the scene if one of the chaps on this thread admitted drinking wine!!!! Having said that, as my capacity for beer is diminishi...

I had to get Diesel for the Disco yesterday so went to one of the local filling stations I use and was amused to be told the following tale by the Manager, who also told me I qualify as a truck so I can use the truck pump which should not run short in order to keep things moving! "At about 2 th...
