standard valani squares/rectangles.. does the softness of ragmats have to do with the jag-ness when cutting?

i have another question, let's say my boss uses crescent rag-mat boards (cotton based).. i always encountered burred/jagged edges when i cut out the frame window..

how to prevent that from happening, even when i change into a new blade?
