Re: Guild West Midlands Branch Event 8 September
I had a thoroughly good time. Welcome drinks and then an introduction to Bevere Gallery by the owners - it is quite some place! There was plenty of good food and drink and the opportunity to have a good look round their operation. The best part for me was the chance to talk at length to other framer...

Re: Music Licence
I am a little confused here; the PRS website states for lone workers a licence will not be required: "Lone workers - workplaces with only one worker, where music is not made available to any visitors/customers coming onto the premises. " The PPL website states: "Whenever a music recor...

Re: Seminars
I think I would be prepared to pay to attend a seminar and I reckon £20 - £30 a head would get my attention. However, the quality of the presentation and information to be passed would need to be top quality given the speaker could easily be trousering a hefty sum if large numbers could be accommoda...

Re: Business Breakfast
I have been to BNI (as a guest) and decided it is not for me; too much emphasis on performance at the breakfast - bring a guest, make a referral or provide a compliment to another member. If you didn't perform then frowns all round. Whilst business might be made it struck me that it was all c...

Re: Pricing
I started much the same way many years ago and naively just doubled my own costs Even when doing just that I still produced a simple spreadsheet that calculated the quantity of materials used, their costs and my mark-up leaving a final total. This very simple tool lasted me many years with my mark-u...

Re: Looking for a moulding
I think I will have a go at rounding over an offcut to see if it works. Failing that the customer will have to put up with the square edges.
Many thanks all

Re: Looking for a moulding
The top moulding is the Lion L1760 and lower is A&T 20250.oak. Trying to find an oak moulding with dimensions of Lion with rounded edges of A&T.
Many thanks for looking,
Steve

Looking for a moulding
Customer wants to match an oak moulding, the one he has is very similar to Lion L1760 except the edges are slightly rounded over (similar to Ashworth and Thompson's 20250.oak) with a completely flat face.
Hope that makes sense.
Anybody know of something that will suit?
Many thanks,
Steve

Re: how to frame medals
If the medals are mounted on a pin (court mounted - they won't move about or swing mounted - they move about!) then you can use the pin to attach the top of the medals to the mountboard. Court mounted medals will allow you to attach the bottom of the medals by sewing through the backing. Swing mount...

Re: Is this moulding suitable?
Now the same moulding (L989) will it be up to the job with glass size 990mm x 800mm? Or will I need to provide some extra support?
Many thanks,
Steve

Thanks for that Robo, I think I just needed a confirmation it would be OK. Now to get it framed and back to the customer soonest given its suspected value.

Is this moulding suitable?
Customer has left a valuable print to be framed to match other stuff I have done for him, namely; Lion L989, 80mm mount, Artglass AR UV. Overall glass size will be 830mm x 640mm, do you think L989, given it is fairly narrow, be enough?
Many thanks,
Steve
