Re: Relief map
Good to see you back on the Forum! Few options: 1. Use a normal frame with a deep enough rebate to cover a good amount of the flat edging of the map, which should also cover the hole made by the previous hanging method. The map will be proud of the front face of the frame though, so the custo...

This new Blog Thread h...

We’ve been admiring your work on Instagram, Matt. Superb range of frames, very well done. Not just on your craftsmanship, but on knowing and understanding your market.

Re: Chevron display
We have the self adhesive fabric on MDF panels and then Velcro on the back of our chevron samples. The only difference is our metal frame samples that are on the special strips from Nielsen. We’ve added examples of glass and small framed items in among the chevrons on some of the walls. Hopefully so...

You're very welcome, Will.
Jerome - you're absolutely right about solid black Level 1 boards, but my reading of it was that in this case the customer had chosen a coloured board with a black core.

Re: Bevel Painting
Welcome to the Forum and questions are always good! Short answer is - no, a painted bevel using acrylic paint will not downgrade the board from Level 2. Slightly longer answer below! As it is the middle layer, you are already spacing it away from the artwork. But if you're working to the Guild's Fra...

Re: Shadow mount question
We use a small amount of ATG to get the instant hold for positioning and then dots of Evacon-R to secure it more long-term. We put it under weight until the glue has gone off and then it is ready to be used. Evacon-R is archival and reversible with water should that ever be required - but very unlik...

Absolutely fascinating read
and your "mistakes" just make it more interesting (although I appreciate that they are frustrating for you). It is always the development and understanding of errors that help us improve! Thank you for the post.

Re: Deep Box frames
If you use A333 Obeche from Rose and Hollis, it is designed to allow for extension pieces such as A335, A337 and A339 (all in obeche) to be fitted into the rear of it. They extend the rebate in a variety of size depths, which should give you the clearance you need. Fill and sand the gap once it is s...

Re: LJ moulding 405334110
Hi Steve
We have a length of it - 2.2m long. Checked it, and it seems fine.
We also have a 2.95m length of the wider version in the darker colour.

Re: My Reply to - back edge shredding
I'd agree with Vintage and be checking blades first.
6 weeks of use since sharpening + "snotwood" moulding = probably time to put on freshly sharpened blades.

Re: Ready Mades
We've always had a selection of ready-mades available and a few things we've learnt along the way: 1. Don't waste too much time on them, the return is not big enough to justify it - we make them up in batches when we have a moulding tidy up; 2. Have a selection of sizes - from small squares, standar...

Re: Computerised mount cutter Wanted ( secondhand )
Best to have a chat with Sarah at Gunnar or Joe/Machinery Department at Simons. They will know people who are buying new machines, who might then have a second hand one they want to sell on.
