Re: Spring Clips

We just tend to use canvas offsets these days. You can get different size ones from Lion so it’s worth keeping various sizes in stock.

Re: Shortage of moulding stock at suppliers ....

Mark, if you go back to read the top of the thread, you’ll see that I recommended Frinton as an option in the second post listed.

Re: Cleaning Glass

Thanks for sharing that tip Vintage Frames - do you find that works as well on coated glass such as AR or UV?

Re: how do you wet your hinge tape?

Different people will do it different ways - nothing wrong with any of the methods, it will be what suits the circumstances and your workshop set up. For hinging tape: Soft brush and a container of water, just brush gently onto the bit of tape to wet. Natural sponge sitting in container of water, sp...

Superb Dermot  loved the description of 1950s BBC and old wireless sets. Really evocative description of the colour tone. Thank you for posting.

Yes, we had the email too. Sounds like an error from Simons, rather than Framiac. Glad it is sorted.

Re: Framiac update today

I noticed that there had been a Simons moulding update this morning, but hadn't checked since then. Looking at it now, there are some mouldings showing if you go to suppliers, moulding and choose Simons - but very few compared to normal. Looks like something has gone very wrong with the update. Keep...

Re: Artglass available in South Africa

If you check out this map, it shows you a few framers who stock it there.

Useful for checking other parts of the world too!

Re: Cheapest acid free mountboard for undermount

As you already use LJ boards, you could use one of their dedicated Conservation Backing Boards. These are effectively the core and backing papers as per their Conservation mount boards, but without the facing paper and colour. Have a look at item LLL008950 which is 1100 micron, which is the minimum ...

Framing Education - Guild Weekend 2023

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Guild Weekend at Stratford-upon-Avon last weekend (Saturday 14th May) and enjoyed a fantastic day of education, networking and socialising with others from the industry. The event was hugely well supported with around 180 visitors as well as demonst...

Different hotel - same town. The Crown Plaza is next to the river and a few minutes walk into the town centre. The other hotel was a few miles outside town.

Re: Guild Weekend 2022 - Framing workshops (14th May at 10.30am)

That’s very kind of you to say so Mark. I think you may be confusing it with Framers Forum Live! that was held in a different hotel in Stratford some years ago. I remember that you and your wife visited that for the day on at least one occasion. This is a Guild organised event and the practical educ...

Re: Guild Weekend 2022 - Framing workshops (14th May at 10.30am)

A reminder that there is less than a week to go until the Guild Weekend. Open to Guild members as well as non-members, the Saturday is when most activities take place. We’ve been delighted with how many people have pre-registered and also booked to attend the Master’s Dinner in the evening. The dayt...

You must be a mind-reader! We had a week of Guild meetings in the office last week and that was one of the items up for discussion. We've got a wealth of technical information and expertise going back over 110 years. We have revisited some articles from the past, but we intend to delve deeper and fi...

Re: Debossing a line around mount aperture

Hi Steve I’ll have a word with the office and see what we can do. Next issue of Art + Framing Today goes to print this week, so we’ve missed that, but I’m sure we can find room in a future issue. 😊 The magazine is available to members as part of their annual subscription and to non-members through a...

Re: Guild Weekend 2022 - Framing workshops (14th May at 10.30am)

The Sunday morning we have the AGM at 10.30 - and this year we are electing a new Chair & Master of the Guild as I am at the end of my 3-year term of office. We have a bit of chat and final clearing up and then most people are away no later than lunchtime.
