Re: Why do the blades keep separating?

Sounds as though you need to tighten the top blades so they can't move. Your machine was cutting fine when I was there for training, and it doesn't sound as though you have moved the bottom blades since then, although I know you have taken the top blades off. So check there's nothing behind the top ...

Re: Methods to this fabric panel please?

If it is 'stiff' does it need to be stretched at all. Can you not just frame it as it is?

Re: Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?

I would avoid even giving advice on something like this to a customer. I certainly would not be glueing it onto a board for them.

My advice would be to put it in a frame. If they don't want to pay to do that I would leave them to it. Then when it goes wrong it's not your problem!

Re: Jagged Cuts & Splitting

I would echo Justin.

That Morso is filthy! I would spend a couple of hours cleaning that down, particularly the grooves that the rebate supports run in, and the rebate supports themselves.

I would then bite the bullet and buy a new set of blades. Those look near to the end of their life.

Re: Underpin chutes ex Casses3

I have some of the plastic cartridges left, but they are getting a bit ragged, so I have also bought a couple of the AA+ ones from Centrado. Yes they are expensive, but much more convenient, easy to change from HW to SW wedges, and they work well. They are also tax deductable!

Re: V-Grooves

Hi Rob Hope you are well. Not certain what is going on here, but my thoughts would be to check the following. 1) Is the blade depth set correctly? It should only just mark the slipmat as you cut. If it is set too deep it may be flexing. 2) Are you using a new(ish) piece of board as an slipmat? If no...

Re: Moulding with Celtic Knot?

I had a similar enquiry a couple of years ago. After much investigation I discovered that the frame she had seen was a mass produced photo frame. I did actually find a solution by using my laser cutter to etch a Celtic knot pattern in MDF, which I then ‘inlaid’ into a wooden frame, and then painted ...

Hoffman MU3 (fully loaded!) For Sale

I have a pristine condition, low usage machine for sale. I got the machine new in 2022, and have used it to make probably less than 1000 frames. I got it direct from Hoffman UK. It is the MU3 Manual model (Lion call this 'heavy duty') and sells for £3100 + VAT included with this are the following In...

Re: Hoffman stuff

I'll post full details of my machine for sale in the sales section in a few minutes Yes the MU3 is the one Lion call 'Heavy Duty' There is quite a big difference in size of the machines - the crucial differences being how tall a moulding you can fit in, and how big the table is so you can support a ...

Re: Hoffman stuff

It’s definitely a game changer, but does require some ‘woodworking’ type skills when changing the router bit. I have an MU3 for sale, with all the (expensive) extra fences, different router sizes, and loads of dovetails. Also comes with the all important dust collection kit. The MU3 has improved adj...

Re: Wanted - Hoffmann dovetailer

I have got one available for sale. It is the MU3, and is in pretty much new condition. I have owned it from new, and used it for 1 regular shadow-box customer. I reckon I have made about 1000 frames on it in total. I have 'retired' from working for that customer now (they were wanting more and more ...

Re: Newbie questions

That looks the perfect tray frame for a 40mm canvas. 1) check the canvas is square 2) make the frame so the aperture is 10mm bigger than the canvas 3) put the canvas into the frame and using off cuts of foam core or mountboard (cut into small squares) pack out the gap (should be 5mm all round, but c...
