Selling up

Hello all, I’ve been a picture framer for some 25 years now, but I’m happy to retire at 67 before I reach the stage of when I don’t won’t to go into the studio any more. I’m not at that stage as yet, but if I were to sell the entire contents I’d probably wish to give the studio in its entirety to a ...

Re: Introducing ourselves

Hi Paul and Lorrain, Welcome to the Forum, there are no daft questions on here... I started along the same lines as yourself, full time gas engineer and low volume picture framer. During my gas job I started picture framing, so that when I retired I was fully up and running framing. It was very slow...

Re: Looking for reliable Mount Cutter advice

It's a C and H mountcutter Ive had it for some twenty years and it was second then. It was my intention to hand it over to a new framer as I was the recipient of it years ago and the framer sold it to me very cheaply, so one good turn deserves another. It cuts beautifully and has been treated well a...

Re: WORKSHOP

I've just finished my bespoke studio in the Garden It's measures 7M x3M x 3M reduced to 2.7 M pitch roof. It took a lot of planning...and sleepless nights to co ordinate all the machinery, plugs, lighting, compressed air etc; I always said the first machine in place was to be the Morso, proper locat...

Re: Which mount cutter?

I started off with a C and H ,and still have it, it's quite indestructible, I also have a valiani mountcutter which is excellent for larger jobs, football shirts etc;

I bought a keencut futura last month and it really is what the framers want, perfection.

Try before you but is my opinion.

Re: Hello, after two years away

The new studio measures 7M x3M x3M reduced to 2.7M at the sloping pitch. Inside is insulated with 50mm Kingspan and 25mm marine ply. Outside is 35mm log lap. We have 3.5kw solar panels which means I can run two 1kw fan heaters during the winter....which in Scotland means all year.... I think a studi...

C and H mountcutter for a newbie

I have recently upgraded to a replacement mountcutter and am willing to sell my used one to a newbie. Some twenty years ago a businessman gave me a good deal, now it's my turn I have a quite indestructible C and H Advantage mountcutter some 25 years old available to someone new to framing. I will po...

Re: Hello, after two years away

John, Since I retired we went for a wander in our motorhome for a wee while, then came back and decided that the back of the garage was no place for a Framing Studio, so we built a bespoke one. The joy of designing such a building is you can make it the size you think you need, its not all plain sai...

Re: Ashworth and Thompson having a laugh

If A and T are going to use their Facebook page as an advertising medium then they should at the very least read the comments that come in on a regular basis. This is certainly not sour grapes or churlish, markw....because someone else got the deal, its because I was among the first to reply to this...
