Re: Is this suitable for rigid tabs on 6"x8" frames

I use Fletcher tabs guns for most frames, but also have a red devil glaziers point gun which fire very rigid small diamond points. Really useful little tool. Link to one sold on ebay here

Re: Uncurling artwork

Get the elephant who painted it to stand on it for a few minutes, that should do the trick!

Seriously, I place the artwork between 2 pieces of mountboard and put several pieces of glass on top. If you do this for 24 hours, it should be pretty flat.

Re: Problems with Gummed Tape

Thanks all again, I do leave the tape in the dispenser, but always empty the water at the end of the day, so that could make a difference.

With regards to humidity in the workshop, we are having a new heating system put in, so we will be able to sort any problems with this hopefully.

Re: Problems with Gummed Tape

Thanks for that Mark, I tend to get through it quite quickly, but order a few at a time from Wessex and they come open to the elements. I then store on my shelves until needed, so you are probably right that it could be the fact it sits open for a period of time. I get a Wessex order every week, so ...

Problems with Gummed Tape

Hi all, I use Gummed tape to seal the back of my frames which I much prefer to self adhesive tape. However, having used a roll for a while I will find that the tape does come off the roll properly as if the adhesive is starting to stick together. I work out of a dry fully insulated unit with heating...

Re: hows everyone found Octobers sales?

We have had a busy October, mostly with bigger, more expensive jobs helping sales. It looks like ending up on September which was not a bad month. What we are finding which may be contrary to others is that we are selling less items, but our customers are spending more. Where we used to do a lot of ...

Re: Packaging

I shrink wrap any mounts I send, and then tend to sandwich it using correx with a waterproof tape around the edge. I get Correx from Lion and it is pretty cost effective. For pictures, same as above with blue foam, bubblewrap and a double walled box. If the picture is glazed, I tape the glass so tha...

Re: Damaged Moulding

I recently had a delivery of about 60 lengths of mouldings and 5 had some dings at some point along. I accepted this as pretty good, so made no complaints. However, unlike J2M, these were very well packed. It is unlikely mouldings are going to arrive in good shape without a good amount of corrugated...

Re: I shouldn't have bought them......

Maybe the way to get rid of them is to filter them back into auctions in smaller numbers, even one set of images at a time. I have seen similar, it depends how much they paid, but you can often find you will get as much (or close to) for one set of prints as a massive bundle. We had a similar recent...

Hi,

Axminister do a mitre trimmer. I started with one of these and got the measuring attachments as well. Not a bad price too.

Re: Would you pay for bigger moulding & mountboard samples

My supplier recently sent me a load of new samples FOC and sent 15" samples, and this had made a difference to the mouldings I am selling to my customers (as was mentioned would happen in an above post). With the set up of our shop, we have 2 different boards, so I put the wider mouldings on th...

Re: BBC "Put your money where your mouth is"

I had a painting in auction when they were filming one of these type of programmes and Marc Stacey was there. My lot was about lot 550 and had an estimate of £1,500-2,500. At about lot 200, one of the auctioneers came up to me to say that they were going to withdraw my lot because Stacey had taken a...

Re: Travellers

We had some travellers near arrive every year near us. Fences were built, but they broke those and got in. They left only when they wanted, but the mess they left behind was unbelievable. After they left one year, it was decided that the only way to stop them was to dig out a trench all the way arou...

Re: Medals

At auction, about £20-£40 would be a likely estimate. They come up regularly and these are not particularly rare ones. It always makes you feel awful seeing these sell for nothing.

Re: shipping frames to America

I have very few problems with them arriving in the right condition. However, bear in mind that regardless of yo taking shipping insurance, th...
