Re: Mount board

Who is going to supply your framing stuff and what boards do they sell? I use Centrado so their own boards as well as Daler and Munken Duo are all the same thickness so my Keencut Ultimat Gold is set up for them and stays the same. Cutting mounts is not particularly difficult, so just buy 1 extra bo...

It's by invitation only and the email has a link to a booking form.
If you're a Centrado customer speak to your rep and ask for an invite.

Re: Acrylic Glazing for Large Frames

I agree with Nick.

3mm should be fine.

The only time I have used 4mm acrylic was on a 2m X 1.5m frame which is double the size of the one you're talking about.

Re: Badges

I did this frame with around half pin badges and half with the bar across the back. 317339_495455587176929_650794258_n.jpg For the bar badges I pushed an angled hole where the pin pushes through so it was right through the mountboard but at an angle. Then I would push the badge right into the mountb...

Re: Supplier advice

If you just want some to practice online maybe check with a framer near you or even have a look on here or ebay for job lots. For supplier I use Centrado who send a van once a week. They are reasonably priced and you can order individual lengths and sheets although there is a minimum order for carri...

Re: Should Trueview AR sheets be square?

Yes they should be square and I'm sure they are almost always square but I guess there might be a rogue sheet or two that moves slightly when it is being cut in the factory.

Here are some signed game boxes that I did a few years back.

They are wrapped in melinex and that is pulled through and secured to the back of the mountboard.

Re: Looking for help with pricing my dads framing equipment to sell

It'll all depend on the condition of each item and you can look in the adverts / sales / wants section of the forum or on eBay to see what each is worth.

You could maybe try and sell everything as a job lot for £2000 or price machines individually.

Re: How to attach this artwork to mountboard

For attaching the artwork it I would probably use a mixture of wood glue and double sided tape and make sure it is pressed with weight under a board for a few hours / days. For the unglazed mountboard I would refuse to do it and I don't refuse to do things often. It will very quickly look really bad...

Re: Faint pencil marks

If the old detective movies are to be believed you just shade pencil lines over it and it will suddenly become crystal clear.

I normally take a photo and then edit the colour or contrast levels on a computer and see if it becomes clearer.

Re: Cutting a larger mirror and framing it with LED strips

Are you new to cutting a mirror and adding LED strips, or completely new to framing? For cutting the mirror it is the same as cutting glass. If you haven't done this before it is probably worth cutting a few scrap bits first to get used to it. I use a toyo handheld cutter. Mirrors are often thicker ...

Re: Making Box Frames

25mm box frame is not particularly deep.
I use Centrado and they have either unfinished or black / white spacers at a range of thicknesses including 25mm. A frame of around 35mm or more will take this comfortably.

Re: Insuring Equipment

I think you have to insure what you currently have.
I assume some of the new equipment you have allows you to do certain jobs and without this equipment you either wouldn't be able to do it at all, or it would be less quality or much slower.
So why put yourself in that position?

Re: Help with Keencut gold

Basically your blade is moving slightly before it finds the correct path, so you need to figure out what is happening and eliminate it. Possible causes are dull blade so make sure you change it regularly, tough mountboard so try different types, play in the cutting head or bar so check they don't mo...

Re: Dry Wipe Whiteboard.

Not sure about starting from scratch, but how about just buying a whiteboard and adding your own frame. They normally come with a thin wooden or plastic frame that could be removed, or even just add the frame over the top if the rebate is wide enough. It will probably be cheaper to get one that is a...

Re: What's the going rate for framing a football shirt?

I've recently put up my prices for football shirts to around £200 for a nice-looking but basic frame. This can be increased with double mount, photographs, engraved plate, anti-reflective glass etc. I don't particularly enjoy doing them but at that price there is a decent profit in it for me without...
