I've never framed a zx spectrum but I've framed a few heavy items.
For something like this I have aluminium wire that is 3mm thick and bendable.
I feed it through holes in the mountboard behind the item and then bend it into shape to hold the item in place.

Re: Methods to this fabric panel please?
Will it stretch over foamboard or is it too stiff?
Why not just frame as is? It doesn't look as though it will wrinkle, so simply sit it on backing board the same size and frame as normal with 2mm space all around. Add a spacer under the glass so the glass isn't resting on the fabric.

Re: Jagged Cuts & Splitting
1. Some moulding is just so soft that it cuts like this no matter how good your Morso is. You can usually tell by how heavy it is. If I get moulding like this I will either cut a big bit off and then try again, or put a small piece of backing board behind the moulding (adjusting the cut length sligh...

You could use mirror clips. Something like the attached photo.

Have a look at https://ukpremiersupplies.com and https://www.ukpictureframingsupplies.co.uk.
I normally try each one and then have a quick look at ebay and compare with my main supplier prices.

Re: Double mounts, my brain vs the GCF
I do it the same way as you've described, albeit 5mm smaller. That's the way I was taught and that's the way I'll continue to do things. I guess the only downside of doing it this way is that if the glue fails the bottom mount could slip down, but that has never happened for me in almost 15 years of...

This is who I recommend.
They are within driving distance for my customers although they do offer a collection service.

Re: Framing a heavy mirror
I think you are maybe overthinking things. At that size I would be happy with 2mm mirror and backing. It would probably be easier just making it 4' x 3' which is the standard sheet size, otherwise you will have to order an oversized sheet and then cut down to size. If it has to be square make it 915...

Some moulding is just really soft and catches even if the blades are fine so double check by trying another moulding.

Re: Multimaster Solution for Shadow Box?
There are a few solutions.
You could use canvas offsets depending on the depth of the shadow box, or normal points fired into the side of the box and then use staples to hold them in place.

Re: Assembling a tray frame, high rebate
Not sure about your joiner press, but generally you can stack the v-nails. They sometimes veer off centre so will depend on the thickness of the moulding. If you've only got the exact amount on chop you can practice on some scrap pieces of wood. For clamping you want a strong bond while the glue dri...

Re: I’m struggling right now.
Here’s a photo of the blades. They were stored unused for years in a basement and a garage. There’s a lot of what looks like staining on the blades that the white spirit, steel wool and scotch pads couldn’t shift. Is it worth having them sharpened or just skip straight to a new pair? If you only ha...

Re: Gonna need a bigger Morso!
If you move the moulding to the right you can cut into it a bit, then move it back to position and cut further each time. You might have to measure the outside of the frame and cut to there, rather than using the stops.

Ask the customer what they want.
Make it their problem rather than yours.
