I use some of it as potpourri! Why don't you bag it up put in your fragrence oil and SELL it! If you have lots of different colours of moulding then it looks quite nice too. Pick up some pine cones - lots about this time of year, add them and hey presto a quick buck! If you look in shops, this stuff...

Nottingham Framer

Hi all, Haven't posted for a long time, just been so busy with one thing and another. I am in touch with an artist whom I know who has been picked to exhibit in the Wildlife Artist of the Year competition at Mall Galleries in London. Her art requires mounting and framing for this and as I am too far...

Apologies people for not replying sooner. Thank you for all your comments and as usual a whole can of worms rears its head! Aine, like you I am a novice and only buy in small quantities, so when I get damaged stock I get more than a bit annoyed. I'm always careful to buy more than minimum quantity s...

Banana Shaped Mouldings!

Just received an order of mouldings yesterday and today unwrapped to inspect and use - nice thought! There is a number of the lengths of various shapes, sizes etc which are a bit banana shaped. My question is: is this normal or is there an acceptable tolerance over a 2.5/3mtr length such that it won...

Paul, Try this link too. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/wis23.htm If you go onto the HSE website, there is lots of information and free leaflets. Usually if you contact your local office they are more than helpful (well, they are here). The only problem with doing the inspection yourself is with the te...

Thank you all, you have certainly been entertaining - macs and trenchcoats! too posh for me - I use a kagool  Mike, I will keep the magnetic head in mind. The guy at Ashworth & Thompson used the yellow head for the CS89 on theirs and loves it to bits. NYAF, Hubby had head down, spirit leve...

Thank you all, I must admit, it's like christmas all over again, can't wait! Grahame, I nearly came to visit you at the beginning of the month as we were on holiday at North Berwick and came up to Edinburgh to go visit at Ashworth & Thompson, but the shop was busy, so didn't want to disturb you....

I think we are a rare breed! I was at a workshop a few months ago and it was like knocking my head against a brick wall trying to tell them about using good materials and not getting that cheap frame from the carboot or market or Asda etc. They just think - cheap is best as it keeps their costs down...

Thank you all for your replies. You have been more than helpful and I really appreciate it. Dermot, I don't mind your being on the bandwagon, as all you can do is give great advice. thank you. As I don't do a huge amount of framing at the moment and work from home, I can't buy in large quantities. I...

supplier for 2mm float glass

I know there has been quite a few debates regarding float glass. I have been having my own problems with chips etc in the glass and the price I seem to have to pay. I went to order some yesterday and as the sheets came in large sizes (1320 x 2140) @ £22.95/sheet. I asked for them to cut them in half...

This discussion couldn't have come at a better time. I have just been shopping around for glass prices here in Aberdeen. ROM me thinks!!! One quoted £7.22/m2 and the other £8/m2. The last lot of glass we got had small chips in some of them, usually epi-centre of the piece you need... I don't know wh...

Hi, I know it wasn't negative, and sorry that my wording seemed that way. Rubbish at explaining myself. I take on board all the help you guys give out here.
