Re: Cutting Acrylic the same size as the backing

The Crofter clearly does more than croft! There is some very clever thinking and fine engineering there.

Re: Cutting Acrylic the same size as the backing

While we were exhibiting at Photokina recently, we spent a little time looking at some of the 'framed' work on display around the enormous show. Much was simply mounted onto di-bond and hung from a sub-frame bonded to the back.

The classy stuff, as on White Wall, Saal and similar, had the image ...

Re: Lion Framer's Event 2012

Good to read the very positive reaction to our second Framer's Event Week. Everyone is welcome to come along - if you come on your Kawasaki, Kev, we'll even provide safe parking.

If anyone has not received an email from us recently, then maybe you are not on our email list. We can check and sort ...

Re: Keencut Ultimat Futura

Patience has obviously been a virtue, and stock of the Futura is starting to flow through.

Thanks for the the nice note about Toni. She recently passed her GCF, as all our sales team are encouraged to do, and that gives her extra confidence when talking to customers.

The Futura been pretty well ...

Re: Excalibur and glass

Dear ChrisG

I checked with Keencut. Here is what they told me:

"The stainless steel strips are factory fitted in to special channels in the squaring arm and they have to be slid in from the end at the factory, rather than dropped in by the user. When they are fitted no join is visible from the top ...

Re: Meet Learn Celebrate 2012

In reply to John's question about visitor numbers at Meet. Learn. Celebrate , they were, frankly, below expectations. There were app 25% more businesses visiting than came to the first event last year, which is somewhat encouraging.

The attendance level is a puzzle for all concerned, as all the ...

Re: FATG Mountboard logos scheme

There are a lot of little questions there in one big question. But, in principle, the answer is yes. Provided you use the logo of the manufacturer from which you buy the board and provided the board is as described on the logo, ie, no crafty substitution, then you can use the logos in your promotion ...

Re: FATG Mountboard logos

Kev:

All valuable and interesting comments, and it's always important to discsuss any issues openly. There is no collusion between manufacturers and the Guild on the mountboard logos programme. We came up with a proposal to clarify the way the Guild standards are presented to framers and consumers ...

FATG

John - welcome back to FF and thank you for your kind words.

Yes, the Guild has taken a bit of flack on here over past years, some of it deservedly. It's a long, slow job, but gradually things are improving. There is now a much stronger focus on working with members and everyone else in our quite ...

Inmes Type P wedges for Pistorius

The Pistorius is an excellent underpinner, but sadly, the USA manufacturer is no more.

If anyone needs parts, we have some good connections in USA and can probably help. But, response may not be rapid and carriage costs on small parts can be quite high. I will ...

Keencut Ultimat Futura?

Yes, apologies for the delivery delay to all those who have a Keencut Ultimat Futura on order.

We do keep in very regular contact with the factory. The problem with any machine like that is that it probably has, at a guess, around 200 components. We understand that almost all the components, most ...

Re: Frame Art Expo in Rome

All:

Two points about the FrameArt Expo exhibition catalogue:

- whatver the merits of the publication, visitors to a trade show expect to be given a catalogue. I do agree that its style was hardly inspirational for what is ultimately a creative industry!

- some exhibitors had promoted their ...

Re: Frame Art Expo in Rome

The Lion team had a very interesting time at FrameArt Expo in Rome. The visitor flow was at least double that of last year, so things are gradually getting back to normal in our industry.

Almost all the leading moulding manufacturers in Italy and Spain had booths and we saw a good number of new ...

Thanks for your observations.

We are aware of the Digigraphie scheme for Epson media users and there is another from HP. The Hahnemuhle one is new to me. All those are designed to tie the participant to a particular brand of media.

The IPQA proposal would allow participants to ...

Re: Focus On Imaging / Guild

I don't claim to be 'the elite' of the Guild, as described by our good friend Steve, but as Members Warden ( effectively Deputy Chairman ) I was actually on our stand at Focus for most of the four days. Given that and the reality that few photographers are currently members, it hardly seemed ...
