All depends what sort of price point you are trying to get to.
If you have that kind of info then drop me a message and I'll confirm if I'm able to facilitate for you.

Re: Plaque engraving

Yeah it's sporting memorabilia for us mainly, we do the odd printed plaque but definitely a preference for engraved from customers.

Plaque engraving

Looking to bring in house the option of engraved plaques. Currently outsourced but leads to a 2 week delay on items being done roughly. Anybody recommend a small machine? This will be an additional option for me to offer customers, not something industrial that will churn out plaques all day so does...

Re: Couriers

Having now seen the price of the specialist courier I will be reverting to using parcelforce  .

I've used them up until now and had no problems but as the size and quantity of frames increases I was thinking it may have been more beneficial to change courier.

Couriers

Morning all

Just wondering if many people use couriers for supplying frames to customers?

My market is likely to be online ordering, so I'm looking for a good reliable courier.

Am I right in thinking Fragilistics are the go to courier?

Re: Wanted CMC.

I too went down the refurbished Gunnar route.

But I'd just give Sarah a call, talk through your requirements and she will give you the options available. If you are near to Birmingham I'm sure a machine demo could be arranged easily too.

Re: Wanted CMC.

I would make contact with the reps for the various machines, and see if you can arrange a demo of each. From a user point of view, I have the Gunnar, and a key point for me when trying them was the 90 degree cuts on the edge without changing the cutting head. The machine has been fantastic since I'v...

Thanks for the comments, gives me something to bounce back at the broker. It almost feels like they just want me to renew without them shopping around!

Insurance / working from home

Good evening all, Just wondering if there were any framers operating from home in here? I'm currently set up with a CMC amongst other framing pieces of equipment. My local insurance broker has implied only AXA provide an insurance policy that would cover both normal home insurance but with an add on...

Re: Accounting software

Quickbooks user here, I like the fact I can have it as an App on my phone. So literally as I spend it I post it into the app.
Find in very user friendly and if you haven't used a system like it before it's very intuitive to use. Think it costs £6 a month.

Re: Print touching u.v. glass

Sorry to jump on this topic, and whilst not Glass related I have been asked about perspex/styrene touching the artwork/football shirt.

I assume that the risk is still there of dew points, but are they reduced given the styrene doesn't change temperature to the same extent as glass?

Plastic Domes - Football Boots/Boxing Gloves

Hello all

Does anybody have a decent suppliers of the plastic Domes used in framing football boots/Boxing gloves?

The search function didn't really provide a definitive supplier for them, and some posts are now several years old too.

Thanks

Good to hear its up and running

For an audit trail, it would be good to have the solution posted on here. That way, if members going forward had the same machine/issue a quick forum search may provide a solution :D

Re: trying to get mt Smart 4060 computer mountcutter going.

I will be honest, i dont think its a common mount cutter and therefore people are unable to give first hand advice. I know when i was shopping around for a CMC, I didnt come across the machine you mention. So can only assume this is why you arent getting as much advice as you had hoped for. Is there...

Re: Mount Cutters

If you are happy with second hand equipment, i can highly recommend the Keencut Ultimate Gold.

It was the one i jumped too from my 'hobby' level equipment. Picked mine up a couple of years ago at £400 which was very reasonable. No idea what a 'good' price would be in todays market.
