Re: Cassese underpinner musings

To be fair are you sure you should be selling your Cs79? as it utilises parts that are fitted to your Cs88 (hammer, distributor block, pull cord, cartridge spring etc etc) which could prolong the life of your cs88 for the foreseeable future. Reusable wedge chutes and universal wedges will replace th...

Re: Cassese CS1 Wedge Distributor Block

Are you using the Alfamacchine AL wedges that are for Cassese machines (10.3mm wide version) or the standard Alfamacchine version (which are 11mm wide) If you are using the correct width of wedge then: Ds block’s aren’t usually the cause of the issue you describe (unless it’s on a contract machine m...

Re: Cassese CS1 Wedge Distributor Block

Hi Fitz
Due to the nature and recent model age of the Cs1 I would be very surprised if you needed a ds wedge block what issues are you having?

Re: Cassese CS79 underpinner - fix info required

Early cs79 had an issue whereas the mechanism was positioned too high up resulting in the tip of the hammer not retracting fully (this is only apparent on the 15mm high wedges) The mechanism is suspended either side of the distributor block by two steel tubes (and bolt) the tubes need removing and t...

Re: Morso Blade sharpening (again)

If the blades feel to be getting tighter as you make the cut then it’s your blades that are warped so no amount of adjusting will cure the problem.

Re: 2nd hand Excalibur/Fletcher etc advice

Just buy the Fletcher, it’s better built, made from far better materials and just works.

Don’t waste your money on an Excalibur.

Re: Morso Eh and EHT micro switch buttons.voltage ?

The control circuit for the EHT runs at 24 volt dc, the switches are rated to a far higher voltage though.

Re: Angle and gap problems. Knife Block issue?

Also bear in mind that a Morso was designed on its final cut to only shave the face of wood mitres some plastic mouldings prefer a much wider final cut as the shave cut can disturb the surface on man made materials.

Re: Guide lock handle, tighten ?

Yes the handle just sits over the nut and the O-ring is fitted to the nut to stop it working loose but over time the handles do tend to stick themselves to the O-ring so yes a flat bladed screw driver is required to gently lever the handle off.

Re: Underpinner help (Alfamachines Minigraf 44)

Daft question?

When you replaced the hammer did you fit it the correct way round? the earlier Minigraf hammers had a flat top which could be oriented either way but the newer hammers have a raised lip which must face toward the wedges.

The bottom blades may need moving outward very slightly to allow the cutting blades to pass without binding.

Re: Cassese cartridge wedge not firing

Debbie It could be caused by the wedge slider (the part that is attached to the pull cord) sticking in its slot due to dirt/grime, if so spray some wd40 on the slider and work it back and forth to clean or possibly down to a weak cartridge spring which no longer has sufficent tension to pull a full ...

Re: Top Presser Issue

Cut 2 small pieces of the same moulding on your Morso but with the rebate pointing the opposite way to normal and pin/glue the two cut pieces to form a chevron then just place the chevron upside down on top of the troublesome moulding, your top pad will then make contact with a flat surface.
