LOL
It is difficult to create a good 'visualisation' image.
I used the Main Line site for the frame too!
If you click the link at the bottom of my first post you can see that the tartan is a bit more subtle than my image would lead you to believe also.

Re: A query about framing embroidery that is not yet stitche
The only visible "card" is the white mount which I am now considering leaving out. The multi aperture mount is going to be covered in a navy taffeta that has natural creases. I am going to stitch a Brer Rabbit design onto this same fabric for another of the pieces in the room: 007 Brer Rab...

Re: A query about framing embroidery that is not yet stitche
Thanks for that Robo and Happy New Year to you too  I am assuming that by a 'sink mount' you mean making a foam core section up from scraps with spaces to hinge or tape the embroideries into? That is rather than cutting all the pieces from one piece of foam core and then trying to squeeze them...

A query about framing embroidery that is not yet stitched!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and are set for enjoying the New Year celebrations. I am now almost ready to start on my Winter bedroom project with involves lots of sewing of soft furnishings but also the creation of 6 pieces for the wall, all of which involve cross stitch. The question I have a...

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Are you sure that you only want to do this as a hobby? I think that you might be getting hooked on framing and that's only one step away from starting a framing shop! Don't encourage me too much Mark! Cliff very kindly messaged me on here today to let me know that Axminster had their Mitre Trimmer ...

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
It was just a happy coincidence Nick. I was at a fair in Dulwich Park last year during the Dulwich Festival and there was a stall with lots of framed paper cuts. I had no intention of purchasing one but just stopped to admire the beauty of the pieces and then I spied the dragon! I clutched it and ha...

Re: Mainline visualisation
LOL I do love pictures and sculptures of hares. Haven't eaten one yet though. That has been on my to-do list for quite some time. That one just happened to catch my attention when I went to upload a pic to test out the visualiser. I love sheep too but I think neither the sheep or the hares would far...

Re: Joining Frames with Logan Joiner
I have the PFK04 from Framers Corner.
A fraction of the cost of the Logan so maybe a completely different animal but I'm happy with it

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Hi Nick, Reg is sitting in front of the cupboards now! LOL And I didn't take any other photos of the construction as I went other than the one earlier in this thread: part done.jpg I initially made the 40mm deep box from 5mm foam core. I did this using wood glue and household pins (like dressmakers ...

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Reg popped out and wasn't sitting in front of the cupboard so I got it out to take a quick pic. Very sunny today so not the best of photos! red dragon.jpg I also took a couple of shots of another dragon I found last week. Had it for years and had totally forgotten about it! I collect dragons and hav...

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Yes certainly.
Got a lot to get done today before my dentist appointment and then working until 9pm and it is up in one of my top cupboards at the moment as the hooks are not yet in the walls!
Will get it down and photograph it as soon as I get a chance, probably tomorrow.

Well I am happy with the end result.
Very happy.
And also very happy and grateful that I have no injuries and have not been tortured in any way

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
I used a tiny bit of Pritt Stick to keep it in place whilst I lowered down the second sheet of glass. Thanks for the suggestions :) John the tutor liked it I think :) He thought there may have been a little too much gold and spied an overcut in the gold mount board but once I get my Futura they shou...

Re: How to cut what I think is called an open V-groove?
I bet you can't wait Bracken! I will be getting mine at the end of March and looking forward to it very much. It works out quite well actually as I need to create the items that I intend to frame before I can frame them! LOL please do post here to let us all know how you get on with it and I'd love ...

Wow! I was worried about how long it would keep but it probably won't need to keep for that long once I've tried that lot out

Re: Calling Prospero - Painting Techniques for Frames
I have a can of this at home now.
It says allow to dry for 48 hours before recoating if required.
I am assuming you only use one coat of this stuff Prospero.
Do you then leave them that long before putting on the finish you prepared it for?
Or with a wooden frame is that not necessary?

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Has anyone any suggestions for positioning the dragon between the two sheets of glass?
The only thing I can think of is to stick it in some way in two very small places but I really didn't want to do that.
It stays put between the glass. It just moves every time I lower the top pane over it

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Yes I noticed that not many people use aperture mounts on this sort of thing. But excited to try out the inlay mount (your fault! ) and want to see it in real life rather than just my Gimp representation. I have a lot to do for the flat but it is only a flat and I am enjoying the learning cur...

Re: How to treat a chinese paper cut
Thanks again :D Can you tell I'm quite chuffed at having two professionals saying I'm on the right track? I did think about the sealing effect, which is the whole purpose of the tape I imagine. Just didn't think it so necessary with the foam box but I will do it that way :) I have to say that my suc...
