Mounting images on 5mm ply & hardboard in tray frames
Hello fellow framers. I've been given a number of images that have to be mounted in tray frames with a 1cm gap between the image and the rim. I'm hand-making the rims and they're being professionally sprayed to achieve a London-gallery finish! Has anyone got a reversible method of fixing such images...

Ventons moulding - any ideas@
Hello fellow Framers! When Ventons were trading I used to buy VEN/EL500/2481 from them but since their demise I haven't been able to find a replacement. Does anyone recognise the Ventons catalogue number and know of one? I'll put a picture of the moulding here tomorrow (if I remember!). Thanks a lot.

Renovation of water damaged print
A customer of mine has a fairly valuable limited edition print by Kitaj which has suffered water damage caused by damp seeping through the wall on which it was hung. The water has rotted through the backing board which in turn has left several small stains on the paper. The back of the paper an area...

Re: White moulding prep before underpinning?
I keep a variety of good quality artist's acrylic paints and use these to touch up any imperfections. Great for being able to get just the right shade/tone.

Wanted - 5 wheel piercing tool
I know this is a long shot but does anyone have a 5 wheel piercing tool, that you use for perforating heat activated mount films, that is no longer requuired? Having "inherited" a Hot Press with assorted films I find that I'm missing the piercing tool. They're an arm and a leg to buy so a ...

Re: Can you identify this moulding?
The mystery is solved! As I was idly thumbing through the Lion catalogue it dawned on me that I hadn't checked them for this moulding, don't know why, and lo! It came to pass that there on page 112 was L931, the moulding I was looking for. The week's got off to a good start!

Can you identify this moulding?
Hello fellow framers! When I took over this workshop I inherited a lot of frames, many of which I consider to be of second quality, so when time permits I refurbish them and sell them off. I have one such frame on a shelf almost hidden from view but today one of my customers spotted it and said &quo...

I really like these finishes! Being fairly new to this please could someone explain what an "oil scumble" is? Thanks a lot, and Happy Easter to all.

Thanks Mark. I contacted Cassese and they said basically the same thing. They did produce an extension for another model and that was as far as it went. Maybe make my own..........

Cassese CS88 table extension
Hello Fellow Framers! Does anyone know of an extension table that clips into the two slots at the front of Cassese underpinners CS88/89? I've seen a picture of what appears to be a black rigid plastic extension in an old manual for the machine but it's not showing on the Cassese web site. I've sent ...

Hi! Welcome to the art of framing! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I'm based near Newton Abbot at Seale-Hayne so do pop in and say hello sometime. We're a friendly bunch as I hope you'll fine. Best wishes to you.

Re: Mounting a semi-transparent document!
Thanks All. Much appreciated.
Mark, one drawing is 31 x 28cm approx & the other is 36.5 x 29ccm. The larger of the two is more "crinkled" (i.e. not perfectly flat) than the other.

Mounting a semi-transparent document!
I've been given two original anatomical drawings by a well-known artist that have been drawn (inks) on a semi-transparent medium (akin to a "greaseproof" paper) that is not acid free and has discoloured somewhat. As they were never intended to be framed there is no margin so a window mount...

Re: Taking card payments using smart phone
I realise this is an old thread but I use iZettle with my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 phone.Works really well and costs 2.75% of each transaction. The chip & pin reader cost £49 and after a month iZettle repaid the money! You receive your transaction money within a week. So I recommend it to anyone wan...
