Re: Shadow Box/very deep frames

Thanks very much, that is very helpful. I have had a look at the book and I think I can get a PDF version for $24.

Shadow Box/very deep frames

I am looking to develop my skills - Also I have had a set of 12 signed golf balls from the Scottish Open circa 2015 kicking about too long. I thought making something to display them would be a good thing to show off to customers. Does anyone know of a good guide for this sort of frame? What do you ...

Re: Blades for Keencut

Both are pretty similar, The Arqadia seems to be a bit more dense and harder to cut. I have tried new blades but think it is a thickness issue.

Blades for Keencut

Hello my lovely friends, I am back after too long, sorry - framing has been neglected as I try to finish the house for my new workshop. I am noticing that when I am cutting with my Futura, the blade enters at a strange angle but when it is actually cutting through all the board it is fine but I am g...

Glass rack

Hello all. Happy New Year - I don't know if it is a resolution to be less of a messy pig or just a solution to a current issue but I have a space problem, and a hoarding problem and I feel my solution is to cut backing board in half and cut glass in half too then store them together so the glass is ...

Wessex Final Straw

Hello all, I am at my wits end - Every order I order from Wessex (Oldham Branch) has some sort of issue damage/no stock/wrong items sent. The trouble is I can't seem to find any decent replacement suppliers. Most of the companies I have contacted have been pretty slow to get back in touch and I am g...

Storing Mountboard?

Hello all,

I have been away for a while, the framing had to take a back seat until the new house was finished, now it is and I'm building a workshop in it!

Does anyone have any suggestions for storing and organising mountboard? Photos would be most appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Wastage continued & RMFs

I know wastage is the burden of framing. I have been working on a new pricing system that basically mean I cut all sheets into half, quarter and eighth of a sheet bits, this means I am getting everything into smaller piles (space is a bit of a premium) and squared up in one go saving time having to ...

Re: What sizes of off cuts do you find are worth keeping?

I keep a stock of glass cut to size in standard size up to A4, easy when you are cutting glass for the weeks work, just cut any off cut to the nearest standard size, they are then ready for any R/M you may make all so if anybody brings in any photo frame with broken glass, you can replace while the...

Taping the rebate gap?

I often have customers who are keen on a cheap job ("I just want it framed"....you all know the ones!). I tend to use Tesa tape on everything, I know people always say to use gummed but I am happy and settled with the tesa. When it comes to taping a deep rebated moulding (where the tape go...

Re: New supplier

but a lot of the suppliers now seem to use Tuffnells, so all my supplies get damaged They are the big reason I am not using Lion now. On one occasion there was a problem (damage caused by carrier) One phone call and problem solved. I like that they actually give the dimensions of their mouldings to...

New supplier

Hello all, I am not going to drop any names because I like to think I have a bit more class than that! I am looking at changing suppliers because currently it would appear it is too difficult to get me a complete order (or without damage). I am leaning towards Lion but am open to any better suggesti...

Exhibition Photographs

Hello all, I have just completed mounting about 130 photographs for our local photography club. I T hinge mounted everything to the window mount as they requested no backing board (to save money, we are in Scotland after all!!!). I am hoping to get the job next year too. One member who I know quite ...

Keencut hooking

Hello all, I use (almost exclusively) Aqadia 1400 board on my Keencut Ultimat and have the blade set to just be penetrating the slipmat but am still experiencing some pretty nasty hooking as the blade enters the board. Could it be the wrong type of blades? I am using single edged as was recommended....
