Re: Thick board on Keencut Futura

Multiple passes is the answer. I think the blade was twisting as I pressed it in so therefore was not going all the way through. (It was also distorting the line of the cut as well). A very light score to begin and then multiple cuts yielded very good results.

Thick board on Keencut Futura

When setting up my Futura for extra thick 4mm board I keep having the same odd problem. I set the depth of the blade and do a cut, I rotate the board and go for the next cut. Only now the blade doesn't cut all the way through. I have checked that the blade is not retracting and that it is tightly lo...

Disclaimer form template

Hi there, I need a disclaimer form for customers to sign if I am to do any potentially destructive work on their stuff. Does anyone have one prepared that I could copy?

Re: Wood finishes - not framing

For inside I would go with either beeswax or natural tung oil. Both easy to apply, both quality finishes. The tung oil will be a bit tougher as it dries hard and you can layer it up.

Arqadia do an aluminium framing system. Not sure if it is the same thing. They get it from Cardinal Aluminium Company based in USA.

Re: Split Baton Hanging System

I'm a big fan of split batten for hanging stuff. I have used it to hang wall panels as part of displays, hold two sections of a piano riser toghether, hang a fire place and of course picture frames The advantage of the metal stuff is it's low profile. But the disadvantage is that is more of a pain t...

Inkjet Transparency film for backlighting

Hi, I am making some lightbox frames that I want to display some artwork in as an example for my customers. I want to produce some transparency prints to put in them. Does anyone know of a transparency film for pigment based inkjet printers that produces a really high quality result? My printer is a...

Re: Vintage photo trapped behind glass

Haha, yeah if someone comes in with a job then I'm not going to talk them out of it! In this case though if she's getting prints done anyway then I can happily push the framing onto those and leave the decision about salvaging the original up to her after I explain the risks. Thanks for all the inpu...

Re: Vintage photo trapped behind glass

Cheers folks.
I will give a quote for the scan and prints and then see if they want to take a chance on the re-framing. Probably best to shove it back in the loft and enjoy the new prints.

Vintage photo trapped behind glass

IMAG0244.jpg Hi there, was hoping I could get some opinions. I have a customer who has an old photograph from around the 60's by the look of it. It has been in a glass clip frame it's whole life with the image pressed up against the glass. The customer would like the image reproduced and reframed b...

Hello Framers Forum

Hi there, I am setting up a new business that intends to cater for the framing of contemporary fine arts. I will be on here asking questions, picking brains and pleading for help for a while. I hope everyone is okay with that! In return, I am an experienced carpenter so if anyone needs help with woo...

Fletcher 3100 problem

Hi there, I have recently set up a new Fletcher 3100. I am having a problem with the glass cutter. The cutting head is supposed to cut at an even depth from top to bottom but it is sitting further away from the glass at the top than the bottom so when the depth of cut is set for the lower end of the...
