Re: Picture Framing equipment for sale

Hi. There is no guillotine for sale. Martin was thinking of taking up picture framing and obtained all the equipment but has since decided not to do it. He just wants to be rid of it so you can make an offer. It hasn't been used for a long time and would require some TLC / servicing. I haven't been ...

Re: Framing a 'lop sided' block canvas

Hi Caro. I hope these photos help. I've tried moving it within the frame but it's impossible as there will always be a gap. I wondered whether I should remove the canvas from the board but I don't want to damage the painting. I'm fairly new to framing. I realise I should of checked the angles of the...

Framing a 'lop sided' block canvas

Having made a frame for an oil on a block canvas I realised that at least one corner is not a right angle. So I made a larger frame thinking that I could build it up on one corner. Unfortunately it is so out that it seems impossible to frame. I wondered how easy it would be to remove the canvas from...

Re: Setting up a business from home

Thanks for that. Does the business have to be officially registered anywhere - eg with the Inland Revenue or any other government department?

Setting up a business from home

We are in the process of setting up a small framing business from home. I have spent a lot of time trying to find information on line with not much success, then had a 'Eureka' moment this morning realising I should ask all my questions on this forum! Until recently we have encountered problems with...

Faulty mouldings

We have found that several supplied mouldings have either had flaws such as black marks (looks like pencil), areas where the finish is not complete, is rough in parts or is warped. Is this common and if so how have you managed this with your supplier? :(

Dust

Can anyone give me some tips on how to get rid of dust without the use of expensive equipment. I framed a print the other day, thought I had got rid of all the dust so sealed it. This morning I found a fleck behind the glass.

Re: Large strut backs

That's great, thanks. Could we double up to make it four please? We assume you would need to take them to a post office to get them weighed to find out the postage and packing cost. If you would like to give me a call on 07824 829491 we could then agree the best way to arrange payment. Would that be...

Re: Large strut backs

Thanks for replying.
We only need two strut backs 305mm square which is an unusual size. Can they be cut down easily or should we try to order prepaid like you did? If so, who was your supplier?

Large strut backs

I have been asked by a client to frame a photo which she wants to stand up on a sideboard. The photo is 304mm square. Can anybody recommend what I can do? :)

When framing artwork on paper or photos, should we always put acid free board or paper behind it to protect it?

Filling corner cracks

We are new to picture framing. Please can anyone recommend what is best to use for filling cracks due to poor mitred joints?
