Re: Laminate prints?
Thanks for replies - yes, looks like the glass step was skipped but there was glass. A couple of points:
1) Having framed photos as opposed to watercolours etc I much prefer it stuck to the board with hotpress film than hinges, which looks a bit wavy
2) I was hoping he didn't use glass as I'm not ...

Laminate prints?
Hello, I've stopped framing as it wasn't working for me (working from a bedroom!), so am concentrating on my photography. But I was thinking of a cheap way to frame the odd photo, and without the big equipment
I was on a photographers website (skyline.ie) after clicking a link, and there was a ...

Re: Equipment for Sale
Just the Guillotine left - everything else gone, incl roller stand (so it won't go with guillotine now)
The guillotine + 3 sets of blades is in an stairs bedroom - If buyer collects and moves it downstairs I'll accept £400 as it needs to go
Thanks, Roy

Re: Equipment for Sale
I paid £835 + vat for the Hoffman from Lion end of January - but hardly used
Not sure what to ask really, but how does £550 sound? Roy

Equipment for Sale
Hello,
I've decided that doing framing from a bedroom isn't going to work, esp. as I'm not very experienced. I'm going to concentrate on photography, greetings cards etc
I have the following equipment for sale: (not sure how to load photos, but I can always email them to anyone interested ...

Re: What size is an RMF?
Good advice - I was thinking about better quality ready-made that those sold in shops, but not sure they would be appreciated.
You've saved me time and money, thanks, Roy

Re: What size is an RMF?
I was thinking of trying to make a few ready-made frames
But I'm not sure how customers fit their photo etc into the frame
Firstly, unlike a custom frame surely it's unlikely that a photo will fit the mount? would a better idea be to make some RMFs and sell mounts in various sizes to fit?
Secondly ...

Re: Squaring a Keencut Ultimat Futura
Just realised, ref my post about squaring the Keencut:
Regarding Aligning the Matguide T-Bar I left out something, Duh!
After positioning the steel rule and undoing the wingnut and screws, and before tightening them again , you should of course slide the T-Bar tightly against the ruler, or ...

Re: Keencut Futura problem
I reckon your machine might need squaring - I posted something about squaring on general section today (27.6.16).
I squared my machine (not as simple as it seems). I had trouble trying to set the limit stops, probably as machine wasn't square, and remember my end of cut (red) stop was at it's limit ...

Squaring a Keencut Ultimat Futura
I spent ages fiddling around with the Limit Stops, then realised just doing the same old thing wasn't working. I therefore decided to find out if my Keencut was square - it wasn't. Both the Cutter-Bar and Matguide T-Bar were out of square.
I am posting this as it's not as obvious as it seems (to me ...

Has anyone forgotten to change border size for 2nd mount
I'm mainly self-taught, and a newbie (my excuse) and wondering whether anyone, when cutting a double mount has forgotten to increase the mount border for the under-mount (please say you have!). I'm ashamed to say that I've done this with BOTH my first two doubles!

Oxidised Wood Look
I've copied and pasted something I saw on the internet. It describes an easy way to get an oxidised look (no idea what it will look like). Might be worth a try, and i'll give it a try as seems very simple. I suppose you could even combine it with a distressed finish or whatever?

Re: which paint / painting frames corners etc
I would certainly take the course - I learn much quicker hands on.
Still on the subject of paint, the Sennelier Acrylic Abstract paint seems to look good, and
at £2.00 for 120ml from HobbyCraft it seems a good price. I might start with these in the main
colours + a few more as inexpensive, then go ...

Re: which paint / painting frames corners etc
Great info, thanks
I'll look at the Daler-Rowney stuff, and also the casein (not sure if this has advantages over acrylic but from what I've read it sounds ok?)
Regarding casein, I'm looking into it but it looks like you can buy it in powder form and just add water - then colour with powder ...

which paint / painting frames corners etc
Hello
I'm not much good at framing (yet?) but good at asking questions - well I suppose the forum needs both sorts :)
Firstly, I painted a frame with some coats of ripple paint as undercoat, then dark violet acrylic (mixture of blue, red, black) - but with only minimal handling some bits of white ...
