Re: Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?
I know you're sorted now but another suggestion is to add a 'cradle' to the back - cut a simple stripwood frame (I use 18mm from b&q) about 30mm smaller than the board. Inset it 15mm all round so it doesn't show, glue it on with titebond, d rings and cord as normal. Minimal cost, ready process,...

Re: Maintaining Depth at Assembly
Occasionally I've created a smidgeon of space within the rebate by using a barrier sheet instead of an undermount, in which case the art would have to be attached to the top mount. Every little helps, as they say

Re: V-Grooves
I can't answer the question, sorry, but I'm interested to know which board it is.

Re: Maintaining Depth at Assembly
One solution would be to staple the backboard to the moulding instead of fitting it inside the rebate (obviously a bigger piece of backboard will need to be cut). The moulding has plenty of width to enable you to do that. Equally obvious but I'll say it anyway, is to make sure the depth of the stapl...

Re: Slater Harrison - Closed Down?
Very sad to hear of any business closing down, but particularly such a long established one. Presumably suppliers will sell off Colourmount stock and then it will no longer be available, unless there's the [slim] possibility of another company buying it out.

Re: Confused and Needing some Advice
And hey, because this renewable electricity costs next to nothing to produce, prices will come down and its a win-win for all concerned. As some members of my family are fond of repeating, they remember when the discovery of North Sea gas meant that energy would be dirt cheap. I view the notion of ...

Re: What to write on the back label?
My label is quite simple - just logo and contact details. Although I put a label on the back, I don't necessarily expect anyone to look there for my contact details. I see it more as a PR thing, to give confidence to the customer that I'm satisfied with the workmanship and am happy to put my name to...

Re: Do you ask the customer for (google) review?
I wouldn't limit yourself to just asking for Google reviews because if a customer isn't registered with Google, they wouldn't be able to do that. The same goes for any other site that you have to register with in order to use it, eg Facebook. You need testimonials on your web site as well as Google ...

Re: How cut the mat board?
I'd discuss it with the customer, asking them how important it is to them to show the signature and demonstrating that aesthetically it looks better without. But if the signature is important to them, I'd suggest mounting it without the signature, but that I scan/print a small section of the picture...

Re: Getting back into it . . .
Hi, and welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy getting back into framing, and as far as your web site is concerned, here are a few pointers. 1. A glaring omission is your location. Is that because you are not yet ready to accept customers, and if that’s the case, why make your web site live at all? ...

Re: Lots of sticky tape
If the tape comes off easily because it's dried out and doesn't leave any stickiness, then I'll remove it. Otherwise I slice round the edges, leaving the remaining tape on the art paper, and then I use V-mount strips to fix it to the undermount instead of hinging it.

Re: Tips for working with black mount board?
Yes indeed. I've never blacklisted a complete brand but I've certainly blacklisted some individual colours, particularly any that dramatically changed colour in artificial light. OK artificial light is going to make a bit of difference, but I've blacklisted a few colours which changed more than woul...
