So did I. Twelve hours later, normal has disappeared again and it's back to slow.

Forum very slow
The last few times I've been to the forum, it's been very slow. Slow to get on to it, and slow response to clicking any of the links or posts. I'm not having any trouble on a couple of the other forums I belong to, or web sites generally. Is anyone else finding it slow?

Re: Hello from Shaftesbury!
I didn't know where Shaftesbury was so I googled it - what an interesting little town it looks to be, and a lovely place to live and work. Exciting times, setting up a new business. Very best of luck for your success.

Re: Textile Framing Course 5th July
I've been on this course and I can recommend it. I've framed a lot of textiles since going on the course that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.

Re: Font Type for writing under photos
I would say it depends on the type of picture.
- Is it vintage or modern? If vintage, a serif font would probably be best, or even a script. If modern, it would probably be a sans-serif font.
- Formal or informal? If formal, maybe a roman (upright) font. If informal, a looser font might suit ...

Re: Another Frame - Process Queries
Glass cutting - I use a Toyo TC17 which I'm happy with. I'm not sure what the difference is between that and a TC10 which is more expensive.

Lion is one of the UK's major suppliers of items to the framing industry. They also sell to France (I think that's where you're based) and certain other countries, subject to minimum order and delivery charges - see this link. https://www.lionpic.co.uk/about-us/faqs/

Re: To move or not to move? That is the question....
What competition have you got locally? Given the choice of two framers, my first choice would be the one with parking and I'd have to be very dissatisfied with them to persuade me to go to the alternative without parking. How would potential customers know that there is parking round the back? With ...

Re: Market Stalls
One of my competitors had a weekly stall in a small market town. I think they had it for a few years, so I guess they found it profitable, although they may have got bespoke business from the exposure as well as direct sales. They don't do it any more, but whether that's because it became ...

Re: Why is this cockling?
The cockling is appearing between the two hinges. So instead of hinges, I'd try using V-strips all round to hold the poster in place. Just make sure that the V-strips aren't tight up against the poster and there's a bit of room to let the poster expand. I don't know whether this will solve the ...

"Custom frames elevate your art and make it look more expensive."
I've framed lots of paintings done by amateur artists whose Other Halves have been scathing about their work and don't want it on the wall. They've then come back with another job, saying that because it's changed the way their ...

Welcome, Rinzleristron, and Yay to Newport - I've visited many times over the years, albeit not recently. Congrats to your rugby team this afternoon - they may not have beaten the Irish but I gather they did good!

Re: Multi-Aperture Mounts - realistically, should I be using a CMC?
I've got 4 no. postcard-sized pictures that I'm putting into the mount.
It's dead easy when all the apertures are the same shape/size, but if you ever have to do multiple apertures of different shapes and sizes, bear in mind that when plotting the layout on the back of the mount, it needs to be ...

Re: Multi-Aperture Mounts - realistically, should I be using a CMC?
The most I've done manually is about half a dozen apertures, different sizes. I don't have a CMC. I've never been asked to do more than that, although I think I'd rather do 24 apertures all the same size than half a dozen of different sizes - the maths did my head in.

Re: Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?
I know you're sorted now but another suggestion is to add a 'cradle' to the back - cut a simple stripwood frame (I use 18mm from b&q) about 30mm smaller than the board. Inset it 15mm all round so it doesn't show, glue it on with titebond, d rings and cord as normal. Minimal cost, ready process ...
