Re: A silly question ? Do oil paintings fade ?
Experts have recently discovered that one of the colours of paint in a Van Goch painting has been fading for over 100 years, the fading is not visible to the naked eye yet... https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2018/may/31/van-goghs-sunflowers-are-wilting-as-yellow-paint-...

Peter,
I realise that you have just done a google search, but with the "Goggles" app (if you have a "smart"phone) you can photograph an image and it will search for any trace of it online, work a shot, if you've got the phone!

Re: a brother to this moulding?
I have these samples on my wall, worth giving them a ring.
I'm sure that I saw the same one the other day, it would have been in the Arqadia, Wessex or maybe even Lion catalogue?

Mark, Your first paragraph feels like you're contradicting yourself. Either you are happy that your/one's work is high quality and the customer has to be prepared to pay for that, or you're trying to give the best work for the cheapest price and you're prepared to cut corners. Buying budget tools is...

Ha ha! I wish! Splines are on my list to learn, just thought it was a good option for something that customers want to handle and be protected.

NYAF I can't believe I didn't think of it before! What about the magnetic wall paint from Jewsons? I saw it used at the Hotpress/Drytac training space in Bristol. Anchor magnetics in Sheffield supply flexible magnets that can be cut up and stuck on.

Re: Cheekiest request for discount.
A few artists have tried to push me on price and I've offered to sell them the frames filled and sanded ready to hand paint and finish. No one has taken me up on it yet. I made a point of telling the last one that the job involved 10 hours of painting..

Re: Background colours for moulding chevron display boards
Grey is in, but black is the commonly used colour isn't it? I think black is the most neutral colour when all of the various chevrons are shown against it. IMO golds silvers colours et al look good against black, grey? not so sure. Hard to say without seeing your space and layout design and lighting...

Re: Background colours for moulding chevron display boards
I looked at Lion's moulding chevron display strips and made a load up myself. They work reasonably well and allow you to take a whole section of moulding off the wall onto the design table.
The game is to see how many chevrons are still on the strip by the time you get to the table.
