A problem piece/home...
So I did this piece about 6 weeks ago. It was as you'd expect, perfect, when it left here. Hung straight on the wall. Centrally heated stone cottage outside wall, "near" but no above a radiator. It was brought back in this week and the corri con backing had completely ballooned outwards, p...

Re: FramR chop price settings
The only way I can think is to increase the markup slightly across the board.

Mine says it's £7.20/m and for that size is giving £7.23.

Re: Pricing help
Sorry @nolanstacey, I meant I do the same as I did before. @wannabeframer go to hinging in "extra charges" and add in the material costs of mountboard per size and add the undermount cutting labour onto the hinging labour et voila!(but like I said it doesn't allow for level 1 jobs, but I g...

Yeah I see your logic. I think I did the same way with Estlite so it made sense to carry on.

I think John was talking generally about his use of adhesives rather than specifically about this job.

Re: Pricing help
Under Extras, I have added one called "Hinging" which is for straight T hinging but includes the cost of the undermount. Obviously it doesn't allow for rag mounts though, so I lose a bit there. Alternatively you could add the undermount as another mount and by clicking on "Straight&qu...

Re: Pricing help
You're buying materials wholesale and adding value by cutting, joining etc. If you're not charging a proper markup on materials then in effect you are supplying them at a wholesale price?!

Re: Pricing help
I'm £105 & £230 no vat. I have a few framers on speed dial and we often price check and compare notes. They're not local to me, but we work to the same standards, so it has helped me ensure I'm not undercharging. When you say you have low overheads, are you sure that you are considering all of t...

Re: Hello! Looking for some workshop layout advice.
It's also worth considering, will you need a customer space for presenting samples, creating designs etc. From a customer service as well as health and safety point of view, it is good to limit the space that customers have access to. By setting up a dedicated space near a door, with a table, sample...

Re: Hello! Looking for some workshop layout advice.
As important as the size is the height of your work table. I'm 5'11" and I made mine 100cms high, which is a comfortable height to stand at for me. As JFeig said, mine is also made from a sheet of 8'x4'/1.2mx2.4m . That jumbo mount cutter is going to take up a lot of space!

The recommendation is if it's over 1m2 then go to 3mm. I would be especially wary of using 2mm in a holiday cottage situation.

Bambi are "silent". Only a bit louder than a fridge. Mine is about a metre away from me when I work. Most compressors I wouldn't want to be in the same room as, let alone have a conversation while it's powering up.

I think the most important thing is to remove the hammer block every now and again, strip it down clean it and regrease it before replacing it, which reminds me...For releasing the handles you could try a dry lubricant spray?

Re: Do you all use some kind of software?
Thing is, if I do a level 1 piece and want to price for volara tape or rebate tape, I can build it in to the software and charge accordingly.
