Re: How to increase rebate depth

Thank you Vintage Frames and JKX - that is the sort of thing I imagined I might be able to do but just wanted to know that it actually works and is an accepted thing. Although I only frame my own work, it has to be done to a high standard and there’s a lot I don’t know as I’m basically an artist, no...

Re: How to increase rebate depth

Hi All Many thanks for your replies. My suppliers include Lanson Juhls, Lion, DJ Simons, Rose & Hollis, etc. Yes, they have lots of mouldings with deep rebates but the deeper ones tend to be narrow and often quite modern. I need something at least 60mm wide in either a scoop or possibly reverse....

How to increase rebate depth

Hi I wonder if anyone can help? I’m framing a painting (of my own) for a client. It’s stretched canvas on a 20mm depth bar. The customer doesn’t want a tray frame (nor do I!) and I’m struggling to find a suitable/acceptable moulding with a rebate depth of 20mm+. Is there any way the the rebate of a ...

Morso Adjustment of Height

Hello I wonder if you can help me.? I’m an artist and do my own framing. I have a foot operated Morso Guillotine. My client wanted a very wide, deep and expensive moulding which I ordered but very stupidly didn’t check the maximum size that my Morso will take. I’m just wondering whether there’s some...

Re: A frame within a frame?

Hi Mark This is the main problem I’m having, - finding an outer moulding with a rebate deep enough to accommodate an inner moulding. The only way round it that I can think of, is to screw some wood along the base of the outer moulding to bring it in line or beyond the depth of the inner mouldings wh...

Re: A frame within a frame?

Thank you Dave. Yes, I’ve been doing that but as I have no experience of working with the pros in an actual workshop I thought I’d try to pick a few brains before I take the plunge. Just wish I could have done woodwork instead of needlework at school, I might have had a bit more idea of what will wo...

A frame within a frame?

Hi I’ve been framing for a number of years now but I’m looking for advice on how to make a more elaborate type of frame than the norm for my own paintings so hoping someone can advise. I’ve seen the sort of thing I’m looking to produce and it looks like a frame within a frame plus a slip. It’s quite...

I know - had to laugh when I saw someone on here, said that Rose and Hollis didn't think the Internet would ever take off, hence no website!!!

Re: Where can I find this moulding?

Thank you for that! It's slightly bigger than my sample, which is 50mm but will probably do the job and it's certainly the profile I'm after!
