Re: Carpet Covered Display Boards

[quote=JKX post_id=156944 time=1707220894 user_id=8597] There's plenty of trim in the DIY world to choose from - e.g. https://www.screwfix.com/p/rothley-white-plastic-angle-2000mm-x-20mm-x-20mm/193JP?tc=XA7&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAzoeuBhDqARIsAMdH14HkMR1snsJMsTyQSCY0qIOwE50Edlw3H1jEUoc3mD...

Carpet Covered Display Boards

For those who have carpet covered display boards, what do you use around the edges to hide the trimmed carpet?

Other than wooden moulding, what else is there available?

R+H A143 Oak Needed

Has anyone got any Rose and Hollis A143 oak off cuts spare?

(2x) 1.5m lengths would be enough or (2x) 2m pieces.

Colour and grain don't really matter too much. As long as it's not warped.

I'm in London

Wanted: L2677 moulding

Does anyone (preferably in or near London) have any L2677 black and gold moulding they want to sell?

Ideally I could have 2 lengths but either a single length or two pieces at 1.5m would also work well.

Re: having to sign in .........

I already replied to other post about this:

I'm always getting logged out. The workaround is to type your reply separately then copy and paste it into the reply box. You have to log it, paste it and send straight away before you're logged out.

It's a real pain.

Yes, the website calls it non-glare at the bottom of the page. :(

Re: Anti-Reflective Acrylic

I requested a sample.

I was under the impression this was anti-reflective but perhaps it's good old fashioned non-reflective. I didn't notice the text at the bottom.

I'll see once the sample arrives.

Anti-Reflective Acrylic

Has anyone used this anti-reflective acrylic for framing? As far as I know none of the framing suppliers do anti-reflective acrylic unless it's the expensive Optium or Lifetime. Anyone used it? https://www.cutplasticsheeting.co.uk/product/anti-reflective-acrylic-sheet/?attribute_pa_thickness=3-0-mm&...

OK. Thanks. It's a choice between being fully insured and reducing your insurance costs.

Insuring Equipment

I have a quick query about insuring tools and equipment. Do most framers insure everything so they are covered for replacing all their equipment and stock, or do you insure for the amount you need to restart your business? When we first started my business we bought all the equipment and moulding fo...

Re: Old / Antique Glass

The piece is roughly 1230 x 780mm - so reasonably large.

I have reused old glass for the odd old frame but most of my framing is making new frames. So this piece is likely to sit in my glass storage for years unless it goes to a good home.

Old / Antique Glass

Does anyone know if very old glass (pre-float glass) is valuable in any way? I occasionally get old bits of glass and I currently have quite a substantial piece, possibly Victorian. I'm not expecting to make a fortune from it; I just don't want to break it up without checking first. There must be pe...

Re: Hoffman Router

Justintime - I find underpinning joins very well on tulip and obeche, although I can't stack v-nails as high the Hoffman can route. Prospero - I store my timber in the place I cut. I might try leaving the cut pieces for a day or two though. I do notice corners moving overnight when the temperature h...

Re: Hoffman Router

Justintime - Are you saying the Hoffman makes the corners more likely to crack? Eeeeeeeek! So he had less of a problem when he used an underpinner? If that is the case, I think I'll save my money. I think gesso will always crack in the end. Has your friend tried gluing silk over the join? It helps a...

Re: Hoffman Router

Thank you for the information. I have to say I'm torn. I'm sure I'd use it and get good use out of it, but is it worth forking out the money for? Underpinners are great for most joining and I've never had a problem joining the harder woods as drilling and knocking in a nail usually gives a solid joi...

Hoffman Router

I am interested investing in a Hoffman router but I have a few questions. I was hoping some Hoffman users could give me some advice. I understand the Hoffman is good for joining harder woods but on softer woods does the Hoffman give a superior join to an underpinner? I'm interested in spray painted ...
