Re: Mount Recommendations – Student Artists Prints, Drawing paper / Giclee Ink

Followup - Thanks to all you fine people for the wonderful feedback and ideas! It took longer than I anticipated to wrap this project up but with your input it is finally complete. I ended up float mounting the art using two anchor or S-hinges and 7 Y-Hinges on each piece. I experimented with some L...

Re: Mount Recommendations – Student Artists Prints, Drawing paper / Giclee Ink

Rainbow - Yes, all 4 are deckle-edged. I noticed that some are more so than others, but don't know if this is something that is easily modified. I believe she is content with the edges. She does not want them covered with a mat if possible, and on this forum I'm learning that there are good alternat...

Re: Mount Recommendations – Student Artists Prints, Drawing paper / Giclee Ink

This forum is great - Thank you for all the immediate input! Is there a way to reply to individual posts? Mark, I posted that photo too hastily and should have taken time to snap all three prints. I confused my message by 'not' mentioning that there are three prints with three images on each print. ...

Mount Recommendations – Student Artists Prints, Drawing paper / Giclee Ink

A young artist brought me 3 prints that apparently take about 5 hours each to cook (?) and they don’t always come out the first time. The design was apparently carved in linoleum, then used to process the prints. I’m told the ink is Giclee, and the paper appears to be a thick drawing paper. She wish...

Re: Dry Mount Problem - Ripples in large prints

Hi Steve, I have made that mistake and will support the matboard outside the press next time I press multiple bites - thank you for that suggestion. What I'm trying to press right now is 18x12 photos on 24x18 matboard. The print is fully within the press and a couple inches of matboard hang out. I p...

Re: Dry Mount Problem - Ripples in large prints

Thank you Prospero, Any insight is helpful - Thank you. I like the idea of a vac press but it is not likely to happen in the near future - this was donated by a good friend who has moved out of the area and has had good success with it. Your description is right on - you know what I have. I'm going ...

Dry Mount Problem - Ripples in large prints

Hello, I'm using a Seal Masterpiece 210M dry mount press. When dry mounting smaller images (8x10) I have had pretty good success, some rippling but usually a good clean press. When expanding to larger prints, 18 x 12 or prints that I need to press in 2 or more sections I tend to get a ripple in the ...

Greetings!

I enjoy photography, the outdoors, wood working, and - of course framing! I make my frames from scratch using hardwoods primarily (Black walnut, Cherry, Maple variants, Russian olive, etc.) and offer them as a purchase option along with my photos or stand-alone. I have a small shop with standard woo...
