Thanks for letting us know. I have two old Euro machines but have not used them since getting a Cassese. While the Cassese is more refined it doesn't have a quarter of the grunt the Euros have and I was thinking about getting one going again. I will keep your hammers in mind.

Re: Upgrading from Keencut to Valiani. Opinions sought.
You guys are a fund of information.....thanks. One last thing - my Keencut handles the Arqadia Solid Core board quite well, even the 3mm. Recently I needed a 1.6mnm jumbo board cut and the guy I brought it to had a Speed Mat which couldn't cut this hard board. Has anyone had a problem cutting it on ...

Re: Upgrading from Keencut to Valiani. Opinions sought.
Thanks for that Abacus. Quite often I will mark up the back of a board for multiple openings and cut them "freehand" on the Keencut. If using a MatPro, which cuts from the front of the board, I assume every opening will mean a re-set of the stops. Am I right in thinking this? If I was doin...

Upgrading from Keencut to Valiani. Opinions sought.
Thinking of changing from my trusty old Keencut Ultimat Gold to a Valiani MatPro 150.......the non-CMC version. Has anyone else made a change like this and found the upgrade worthwhile? Did you keep your old cutter, or dispose of it?

Cassese Wedge Distributor Block wear & tear. Wedge stacking.
How do you know when to get a new Wedge Distributor Block? Are there recognisable signs of wear and tear? I have a CS199 and it struggles to insert two softwood wedges into obeche, or its equivalent. I did not buy the machine new so I don't know if this is the limit of the machine or if it's simply ...

Re: spraying frames
Thanks for your reply Mark. I've been told about a guy in Dublin, but with this Covid thing I can't travel to see him right now. He comes highly recommended and I want to see what he has to offer. I'll let you know how I get on should I proceed.

Re: spraying frames
Mark, I'd love to know how you got on. I'm similarly minded to use up years of unused moulding in such a fashion. The advice to use Halfords etch primer is first on my list and then I need to choose a sprayer and whether to use solvent or water based paint - I'm inclined to settle for solvent based ...

Advice on mounting Japanese prints wanted
I am attaching images of a couple of Japanese prints and would like suggestions on best practice for mounting them. Specifically, does the opening in the mount reveal or cover the text showing outside the outline of the print. I note that there is text both inside and outside the area of the print -...

Promotion ideas
I'm just a one-man-band in a small town and we have an expo coming up soon for all the local businesses. I'm looking for suggestions as to how to promote my bespoke framing service at the event. Has anyone any novel ideas that you may have had success with before. I'd like to run some kind of compet...

Light fast gold pen/marker needed
A photographer asked me to source a gold pen or marker that will not fade over time. He wants it for wedding guests to use when signing a mount/matt. Any suggestions?

Re: Euro 9009 Again
I spray a bit of silicone lube around the area......makes getting the glue off a bit easier. It's also easier to get in at the allen key to release the plate if there is a bad jam.

Re: Euro 9009 Again
Thank you guys for being so helpful. I feel like I'm part of a secret society when I read posts like these. I've had my machine (bought second hand....some breakaway company apparently manufactured it and it is painted red rather than blue, so, although identical to a 9011, it is a mongrel rather th...

Re: Euro 9009 Again
Hey Mark. That's a serious load of info about the Euro underpinner. Do you by any chance have a service manual, or know where one could be obtained? I have two old ones myself and would like to service them completely and replace any worn parts. I am having trouble getting the top plates levelled in...

I think I might also be in the market for a couple like Roboframer's. Need to check first, but please keep me posted if there are any developments.
