Re: Picture Framing Course
I recently did a course with Jim @Gessoandbole - an excellent day full of information and inspiration, highly recommend. A couple of weeks later and I'm still digesting all the nuggets of wisdom and ideas. I think he mostly does one to ones so it can be tailored to your exact requirements. Also anot...

You'd need to cradle it all round. I'll try to attach a pic.

Re: Moulding with Celtic Knot?
Have a look at Decwood, or something like this
https://www.heartwoodcarving.com/celtic ... RJ-R91z5Yv
But yeah no off the shelf that I know od. You'll be sticking a decal on to a flat moulding.

Re: Framing Workbench Design
I have two of these, 4ft x 5ft, on wheels. They're well made, sturdy, arrive partially assembled (or you can pay extra and have them do it on delivery). The shelves at the end are handy and I had the second shelf so loads of storage. Plus water resistant mdf :-). I topped them with Flotex carpet. Th...

Re: Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?
I know you're sorted now but another suggestion is to add a 'cradle' to the back - cut a simple stripwood frame (I use 18mm from b&q) about 30mm smaller than the board. Inset it 15mm all round so it doesn't show, glue it on with titebond, d rings and cord as normal. Minimal cost, ready process, ...

Thanks JKX!
Pedestal is a new one! See, your raised/pedestal float to me is a 'shadow float' as opposed to a tight float.
But I've also seen shadow mount bandied about - idk what that is then.
Anyway, the smoke clears somewhat, thank you.

Me again  I am about to start training my second victim, err... part timer, and I'm trying to be more organised about it this time around. I've realised while writing a training log for her that, having learned as many do from a combo of differnet teachers, books, this forum and the wider inte...

Double mounts, my brain vs the GCF
Hello When cutting double mounts, my usual method is to cut the top piece to the glass size, then the underneath piece to 4mm smaller. I cut the first window, retaining the fallout, stick the underneath piece to the top, then cut the second window. This means the window margins are always even, beca...

Hello I am currently loaning the basic Hoffman from Lion to try it out. I use a lot of hardwoods and have always struggled to get good joins on my Minigraf. I've only had it 24 hours but already it feels like a game changer. However, for what is basically a handheld router trapped in a v shaped tabl...

I should add they've been correctly stored and hung, away from moisture/ heat, and were framed in June.

Waving under mount
Hi All Customer is concerned about 2 large prints (screen or linocut, I can't remember) that are showing signs of buckling under the mount. Glass size about 1.2m, paper about 350gsm, t hinged in a book mount. Backing is probably ArtBak, but probably should have been mdf, could this be the problem? W...

Dry mounting in Kent
Hello all,
Wondering generally if there is anyone near me in North Kent who would like to take in the odd bit of dry mounting for me.
Also more specifically if someone can drymount 4 x A1 inexpensive posters, portrait, in a quad for me as a one off?
Thanks,
Megan

Re: FRAMR glass pricing
Probably if I dig into it, I guess I can, but my question really is, should I? Or would folk tend to charge based on the list price of materials, and enjoy the extra profit one would get from having negotiated a discount with the supplier?

FRAMR glass pricing
New to pricing software and I've been checking a few prices against Framr and it makes it look like I'm undercharging but, looking at the price breakdown, it has 24001 (Artglass 92) in at a cost of £140.44 per sqm. I buy it by the 1220 x 914 sheet and I'm not the greatest at maths but I know I'm not...

Price check multiple order
Hi All Just comparing a couple of my prices to FRAMR (which I don't currently use) and think I might be undercharging. Can I get a feel for what you'd be charging for 525x695 glass size Double Hayseed 8065 mount Lion ash L001 (approx £3/m +VAT) Artglass 92 ...On an individual basis, and then how muc...
