Re: Oak supplier advice

I know I'm late to the party on this discussion but I also have this problem. Drives me nuts. I've got quite a bit of 'oak' stock that looks just like the ash version of the same moulding, in tone at least. :head: When I've brought it up, different suppliers blame either the fact no one was planting...

CMC outsourcing

Hi

I asked this in another thread but maybe better here.

Does anyone with a cmc cut multi aperture mounts as an outsourced service? I know wessex offer it but just wondering if there are alternatives.

Thanks

CMC outsourcing, Kent?

Hi Wondering if anyone who has a cmc will cut the odd multi-aperture mount for me for £. I'm tired of handcutting the headscratchers. I've used wessex fine art but the last couple of times they've not been great and it takes ages. Particularly interested in anyone in North Kent (Faversham, Canterbur...

Re: Ornate gold moulding for canvas minatures

Yes as others have said it's a DIY jobbie this one.
If it were me I'd be looking for a bare wood obeche tray like Lion's L2427 and then sticking something like the Rose & Hollis egg and dart strip to the top maybe?

Re: Ways to frame a sports shirt?

Hello all I've done a fair few sports shirts now but they are few and far between so I find myself having to remember how to do it every time. My usual approach is foam insert, a bit of sewing, a bit of tag gun to attach to the mountboard. No nasty tape or glue. What I'm wondering is, how do people ...

Re: Labels for back of frames

I use Stickershop. Reasonable prices, good quality and some (limited) eco friendly options. We have the logo, date the frame was made, who made it, the type of glass used and order reference number. Moo have nice quality business cards. I like the extra thick square one with rounded edges, but they ...

Filling grain on obeche

Hello all One for the hand finishers out there. I'm doing a quick black laquer finish using Hampshire sheen spray which gives a lovely gloss finish but I'm having trouble with the obeche grain showing though. I've put six coats of satin varnish underneath, sanding in between, I'm still getting grain...

Re: Multi ap platform mount

Hi and a thank you to Roboframer for imparting this knowledge; I too have used this method several times for photos and it works a dream. I'm just about to use it for some art on thin paper though and I'm thinking that for security I might hinge the pieces to the fall outs, before refitting them int...

Ready made backs

Hi All Those that make ready mades, or ship your frames, what do you do on the back of the frame in terms of hanging? I'm thinking either sawtooth screwed into the frame, or mdf backs with sawtooth attached but how do folk achieve this without the expensive press fix attaching thingy? Neither wessex...

Re: Tray frame identification...

Yes these are called "Two Way L" mouldings from Lion.

They can be used either way round, hence the name, but have limited use due to the step. I mostly stock the solid ash version and use it for customers who want a skinny tray.

Washlines

Hello you talented bunch (getting in early with the flattery) I have a customer who wants washlines. I have trained to do them but that was a few years back and since then I think I've done about 3. I'm OK with the basics but she wants two green lines with a fill, then gold lines either side of that...

Re: Jumbo mount not big enough

Thanks All

I'm going to try Jeremy's suggestion of bevel cutting at the join and see how it looks. If thought about stripwood but a painted finish won't give the look I'm after.

And white or offwhite just doesn't look right so even the centrado xxxl is out

Cheers!

Jumbo mount not big enough

Hi all

I have a long thin map to frame, glass size 175 x 1750 so out of even jumbo mount size

Map will be tight floated so I'm thinking just go normal mount and hope the join doesn't show too much

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Megan

Foil / alu wrap mouldings

Hi all I've just got in some odd silver coloured aluminium wrapped moulding from LJ to match a customer's existing frame. It cuts badly on the morso but I think I've got something acceptable now. Main question is, it appears to have a plastic coating which is peeling off a bit at the back. Am I supp...
