Re: Large vintage posters - help please
Thank you JFeig, I am aware of the process whereby posters can be 'linen backed' this would be a choice for the client which I would put to them. We've seen on other common posts that the hedgehog method on 'cons' foam board / slip and adequate frame is the direction (for either linen backed or non)...

Large vintage posters - help please
Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful sunshine? Please can we ask for some advice? We have a client who has two large vintage posters that are worth £600 each, approx. They want them framed to a high level but also without a boarder / mount in a 15mm wide profile (obviously will need a sub fame). ...

Re: 120cm square print
Oh thank you very much Justine. Good advice. I like the idea of ‘close framing’ as cutting a mount that size will be tricky. With a ‘close framed’ items are you relying on the spacers to hold the work in place? And on the same point, is there a concern with regards to cockling as the work is ‘trappe...

Re: 120cm square print
Thank you all for your input this has been very insightful.
May I clarify how one would go about mounting the work? DCO then using Perspex, I guess the Perspex would need to be rather thick at 6mm maybe?
Thanks you all again kindly for your thoughts and time.
Carol.

120cm square print
Dear fellow framers, I have a regular client who has asked us to frame a 120cm by 120cm print on medium weight paper. The prints is worth roughly £200 and they would like 'a simple frame'! HA! I am trying to think of the most cost effective solution to frame the work but no coming up with a clear di...

Customer enquiries
Hello framers. My partner and I are doing a bit of a review / tidy up of our customer workflow practice. For years we have used an old carbon duplicate receipt book for client orders. It works fine mainly because my partner and I are used to each other’s shorthand and way of working. However, now we...

Re: Original posters
Thank you +Rafe+ for this post. Its been intresting reading so far... Great film too! I cant offer too much input but Prospero's method seems like a great idea. I don't know of the best hinging tape to use on the linen back either, maybe someone else can offer their thoughts. I've not experienced a ...
Re: Glass
Hi, we only keep off-cuts that are above 250mm x 250mm. Everything else is recycled. We then do a review and clear out every three months. We have to ruthless because the size of our shop.

Re: Hello to all
Good morning, Thank you again Justin for your reply. Great tips and I will be looking at these books and at a Vacuum Press. I am not certain what size press I should be considering. Obviously, the biggest covers you for all possibly projects but the size it takes up in the workshop and its cost is a...

Re: Hello to all
Good morning, Thank you for all your replies with great tips. I wasn’t expecting such a quick and detailed response. Thank you for making me feel welcome! I had possibly thought that sticking the posters down onto a self-adhesive board would be the route. Your point Mark, was exactly my concern and ...

Hello to all
Hello all, Thank you for accepting me, I am looking forward to reading more of the historic posts, all very interesting and helpful. I am not new to picture framing but certainly out of date and rusty to say the least. I used to work in my cousins framing shop I my early to mid 20’s (a few years ago...
