Re: Mounting to diabond

PVA won't work - it will simply peel off in the future - very neatly too. Keying the dibond is essential - but the artist is delusional to want it on dibond in the first place. You "could" hot mount it using drymount film - but again keyed dibond is essential & the drymount film would ...

Re: Hot presses

What's the difference (if any) between an Ademco and Keencut hot press. Superficially they look very similar but did one company take over the product from the other? Do you have any pictures of the machines you are talking about? The first machines I sold (in the photo trade) were all Ademco machi...

Re: Sad News.

Richard & Monika were a lovely couple. During my many years working at Hot Press they went above & beyond to help me promote the products in Scotland. I feel fortunate that I knew them both for thirty years & when Richard told me that he had lost Monika in March of this year I had a &quo...

Oh definitely - sprays are NEVER a good idea - just a "bodge" for those who don't have the right kit.

Re: dry mounting on a large scale... perthshire?

"theoretically" this would actually go through a "tiny" Jetmounter JM26 - (max width 670mm) - assuming you set it up to run straight. Failing that a Jetmounter JM34 would definitely handle this.

Then again a big vacuum would do the job too.

Re: Waves in printed media

If you can find a local framer with a Hotpress, I put it inbetween two sheets of mountboard for ten minutes with just heat, no vacuum, to warm it up, then 10 minutes heat and vacuum. The moisture in the mountboards helps relax the paper. Afterwards, you have to take the whole package out and weight...

Yes - a good point - I actually spoke to Ricky EVERY single week - to see what he needed for delivery that week. We always 'had a laugh' & a 'bit of banter' - he was a very nice guy & a joy to speak to. I have been quiet on this thread - because I have lost someone I have known for 25 years ...

Re: Ricky - Barnard Castle Frames

I haven't posted for quite a while - but felt the need to express the deep sadness of all the boys & girls at Wessex in Oldham. I have known Ricky for a lot of years - both from my time at Hot Press & then with Wessex. He was a good customer - but more importantly - a really nice bloke. Rick...

Re: Wessex Roadshow.

Thanks for the kind words Pete. It was a "good show"... ...but a "good show" is only a "good show" when people support it - thankfully the good folk of East Anglia are very generous in their support and turned out in good numbers. One small point - it wasn't a Wessex Pi...
