Re: Embossed logo.

Thanks Steve, good idea. I thought I could get a die that they sell for wax seals which is made from brass, remove it, solder it onto the end of a brass bar then just give it a tap with a hammer to emboss it but the text is engraved into it as opposed to raised up from the face so I don't think it w...

Re: Embossed logo.

Thanks Jerome. Just had a look, arbor presses are reasonably priced and the company that I enquired at makes the dies, it was just a case that their presses didn’t exert enough force to imprint the mount board. I guess if I can’t find a hand press, that’s a Plan B.
Many thanks.

Re: Mounting stamps

Hi Megan. I did try it. The aperture was about 3mm each side bigger than the stamp, the Mylar which a local gallery gave me a strip to try, I cut around 4-5mm bigger each side than the aperture. Trouble was, sharp jolt on the frame, one or two of the stamps moved out of position within the Mylar poc...

Embossed logo.

Hi all, bit of a curve ball. I’ve seen mounts with the artists logo embossed into it via a press. I’ve just messaged a company that makes these presses but say theirs won’t emboss mounts as they are too thick. Has anyone done this for a customer? Done it themselves or know of a company that can supp...

Re: Mounting stamps

I looked on Lion, I’ve noted the 3m 415 too, the only reason I asked about the fillet tape one is its only 6mm wide, the others that I saw on there were 15mm wide so it would save cutting down as I was making a pocket or sandwich for each for each one, thought 6mm wide would be enough? The extra Myl...

Re: Mounting stamps

Would you use double sided tape like 6mm archival fillet tape for sticking the two pieces of Mylar together or single sided?

Re: Mounting stamps

Thanks Justin....” Hedgehog” 🤔🤔 is that where you tape from the back of the stamp for example and lap it over the cutout then put the cut out back in the hole?...

I’ll be cutting a multi aperture mount, the stamps will be of mixed values.

Re: Tape free art mounting

Might I ask, what size artwork does this method allows up to or can you theoretically use it for all sizes of artwork? There was a further link to “Grumbles” referencing it on the older link but it says “page unavailable” so I couldn’t find out..

Re: Incredible Chinese paper cut art

Bit of a late reply, apologies...I’m a newbie and also a papercut artist. I tend to cut A lot of really thin intricate designs (Line work). One that I do In A3, the bough of a tree, the thinner branches are only 1mm wide so they are too narrow to glue without seeing the dot, plus it’s only 90gsm pap...

Re: Idea for novel appraoch...feedback please!

I’ve had work in two exhibitions so this is from the artists point of view. I wouldn’t even consider Ikea level frames for exhibitions, you are selling the frame as well as the artwork. They are flimsy, generally have plastic not glass that is an absolute “bits magnet” unless you run it under the sho...
