Re: Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?
A little frog tape on the wall and the back of the panel. Then velcro. The frog tape protects the paint on the wall and the paper on the back of the canvas panel, that's so long as you get the painter's stuff that removes cleanly. If you're feeling posh, water activated conservation tape would work....

Foamex as a backing board?
Hi, I've got an outsized frame to make. The dimensions will be at least 1300mm x 900mm... I've contacted a supplier to see if I can source a large correx polypropylene sheet, however I have some foamex pvc board from a previous job. Besides the weight disadvantage, is there any reason anyone might b...

Re: Social Media and Advertising
I use Instagram and facebook. My facebook page barely gets any traction, I think it's throttled a bit. Instagram is better, but is mainly artists who I've framed for that interact with the posts. So as far as new customers go I don't think it's a great platform. Facebook is better for me in a word o...

Re: Suggestions for hanging hardware for removable back frames
Thanks! Yes, I got some of them not long after I did the job. They were out of stock at the time. I'll give them a shot, but I think they're flush to the frame. One of the reasons Jim Miller recommends the wall buddy system, I think, is because they can be use on the top corners of the frame. So the...

Re: Suggestions for hanging hardware for removable back frames
I just realised I never gave an update here. I appreciate all of your suggestions, thank you! I ended up using American style d-rings and soft steel wire. I made the wire a bit longer than I would normally, which meant that the d-ring could be flipped out of the way to remove the backing and platfor...

Re: Suggestions for hanging hardware for removable back frames
You could go for a 'key-hole' hanger. Have a look at them on Amazon or other. You would need to make a slot into the frame back with a suitable sized drill bit and wood chisel, then screw the hanger plate over it. Thanks, I'll look into that, there's a few of them. If I could get a plunge router or...

Maybe if I used two per picture, for stability. Thanks, I'll think on that one.

Re: Suggestions for hanging hardware for removable back frames
You can still use cord or wire, just use two pieces tied together with a reef knot. Or one piece doubled and tied with a reef knot. If that’s knot favourable then as long as your frame is wide enough, Z bars or cleats are good. 'Knot' favourable! Hahahahah!!! :D I think I'd prefer cleats if I can't...

Suggestions for hanging hardware for removable back frames
I've got a framing job coming up where I need to make several frames where the contents can be removed and replaced. I intend to make platform mounts inside, then backing boards held in place with turn buttons. However, I don't want to use wire or cord on them, because it'll get in the way of removi...

Re: Vacuum issues with HotPress 360
Thank you. This is very helpful. I cross posted this on another framing forum that's mostly North American based, and while I was searching that forum, this forum was mentioned, because I think HotPress machines may be more popular in Europe. I did the bookmark test and found an area in the back of...

Re: Vacuum issues with HotPress 360
Put a sheet of paper on the seal between the gasket and lid where you think it might be leaking. Close the lid, with the press turned off. If the seal is tight the paper won't move. If the paper can be pulled out then that's the problem area... repeat around the seal. Try tightening the latches, or ...

Re: Vertical Moulding Racking
If you're willing to post/courier, then I would be happy to buy this.
I'm moving to a new place and wanting to scale up, so the storage would come in really handy.

The board storage cart, can it break down for courier or is it pick up only?
Thanks!

Re: Football shirt with ticket and programme
Thank you for those!
Yes, you're right. It's important that the programme is seen as a 3d object.
I'll investigate the Jim Miller method. That's not something I've needed to do yet.
The way you framed the Ranger's top is a good pointer. I appreciate it!

Football shirt with ticket and programme
Over the time I've made frames I've managed to avoid framing football shirts. However that's about to come to an end, and I need a little help or a few suggestions. I've been given a football shirt to re-frame with a heavy programme. It was blu-tacked to the football shirt, and predictably slipped i...
