Poor moulding Quality Control at Arqadia!

After waiting 2 to 3 weeks before Arqadia were able to re-stock a certain moulding it was like Christmas with the eager ripping of wrapping paper only to feel completely let down by the rotten moulding inside the packaging. Sound familiar? Look at the picture and spot the difference, no it's the sam...

Wizard's Integrated Framer Free Demo CD

Has anyone tried out Wizard's free software demo in this months issue of Picture Framing Magazine? If so, what did you think of it; personally I thought it was actually very good as it allows you to choose from the mount and moulding samples captured from the work top and therefore giving a much bet...

Here's a different way of looking at it; why not mount the poster directly to the wall and then use some of Luminati's Wall Mounts http://www.luminati.co.uk/products.php?p=9_1 to hang a piece of ArtShield or similar acrylic in front of the artwork, no frame necessary and weight not an issue! Just ma...

How to frame prints without a mount?

I have 13 A2 size limited edition prints to be framed without a mount and without touching the glass so that the edges can be seen. My first thought would be to cut slits in the backing board and feed conservatin gummed tape through onto the back of the prints in all four corners. Does anyone have a...

Framing using Golden Section

I've recently had a client from London who wants her upcoming exhibition pieces to be designed using the rules of Golden Section and Fibonacci Numbers. Has/does anyone currently use this method and can they give me some pointers how to correctly proportion the mount? Many thanks.

After looking at all the software I am a little dissapointed with the final image, certainly with Custom Picture Framer the lack of detail such as shadows and sight edge depths really subtract from the overall posibilties of such software. The best I've seen so far is Steven's Blinkred with a pretty...

Has anyone had any experience with Picture It First; a software package which builds the whole frame and picture on your computer from a digital photo? Mounting photos on acrylic

I've got an order from a hotel to mount poster sized photos on acrylic sheets which are to be suspended away from the wall using chrome panel supports. I have seen this before on an example which wasn't a sandwich of acrylic but the photo was adhered to the back of the panel; my question is how to t...

When stretching fabrics we find it much easier to sew an extra inch of material onto all four edges of the artwork which can be bent around your substrate ready for lacing. Like SquareFrames we use a poly cotton thread from the local haberdashery.

Jeremy, John's link is spot on and this method does work on the example photo they've used; however when you're dealing with photos with two sets of parrallel lines i.e. a framed picture with a mount, the 'pinch' command tends to concentrate on the centre of the photo and therefore proves quite diff...

Hi Jeyelle, in answer to your digital photos having curved sides, better known as Barrel distortion. It is a lens defect that causes straight lines to bow out toward the edges of the image. Pincushion distortion is the opposite effect, where straight lines bend inward. This is common in most compact...

I tape all pictures, it only takes a minute and it is a joy having sealed blocks you can pick up and move around without worrying about repositioning it all the time. Someone has asked me to frame some individual chocolates - don't ask! I've also searched the interweb for fake chocolates as a back up plan if I get hungry in the w...
