Re: Squaring a canvas

Thank you for your help.

I ended up having to router out a large portion of the frame to increase the rebate depth. It worked but it wasn't pretty. Luckily it was all covered up in the end.

Will be teaching the artist how to check her canvas for square for any future projects.

Re: Selling my business

I'm looking at buying a local framer and found them through Rightmove. Some property agents list businesses. There is also a business-specific page called Rightbiz. This could be something to look into. As to Gesso&Boles point, valuing a picture framing business is tricky as the majority of what...

Re: Squaring a canvas

I did think of that, my concern is that the art doesn't wrap around the canvas so once it's re-stretched onto the stretcher it's not going to look right. No, it's a local artist to me, I think it was a cheap hobby craft canvas. I don't think it would have crossed her mind to check they were square b...

Squaring a canvas

Hi All, I have recently been asked to frame a stretched canvas, the canvas was pre-stretched onto a stretcher. I took the measurements and made the frame up, but when I offered the frame up to the canvas I discovered the canvas is not square. One corner-to-corner measurement is 99cm and the other is...

Re: A thread of gratitude

Congratulations.

I was just reading your post about home working for a couple of years ago, (I am in a similar position myself) and I wondered how you were getting on now, so this development is great.

All the best with the new work, please post some pictures.

Re: Assembling a large mirror 1600x700mm

Thank you for all your advice it has certainly been a help.

Im going to go for a chunky subframe then glue the mirror to that and then screw the subframe into the moulding.

I will post images if I remember to take any when I'm making it.

Assembling a large mirror 1600x700mm

Hi All, I need to frame a rather large mirror, 1600x700mm, this for myself not a customer. The moulding we've selected is the below from Centrado. 8053-Profile.png Due to the size, i'm going to go with a 4mm safety-backed mirror so with that in mind, what are my best options for securing the mirror ...

Is one of the fletchers a flexi tab version? If so I’m interested.

Re: Has Flagship Gone?

It's official, they posted on their social media the other day that they are closing the business.

I only ever sold one of their mouldings and it was last week. Had a job finding a suitable replacement, but thats just how it goes I suppose.

Mounting Equipment

Hi All, I am in the process of setting up my own framing business. I have converted a small garden room into a workshop, I have gotten myself a Morso guillotine, a fletcher wall mounted material cutter, an underpinner (make unknown) and a keen cut mount board cutter. These key items seem to come up ...
