Wings on an underpinner?

I’m just starting out on my framing journey and am spending my days learning to make frames and as I venture into larger ones I’m beginning to wonder if I need to buy, or make, some wings for the minigraff 44 that I have? Does anyone have any views on them, are they worth the money? I’ve got a large...

Newspaper paper is much used in the sublimation printing world, should anyone want to try some you can buy reams of it unprinted cheap as from eBay, Amazon et al.

how do you wet your hinge tape?

bear with me on this, i'm new, but i'm hoping the old hands on here can save me some experimentation time. ive just started working with gummed hinge tape, the best way i could work out to use it via google was with wetted fingers, but this seemed a bit of a messy way to do it so i'm wondering if an...

Re: Ways to frame a sports shirt?

Perhaps I should add that a friend has asked me if I can do this and my interest is solely to use it as a project to learn from, not as a way to make any money.

Ways to frame a sports shirt?

I’m looking for some help, advice and examples please. I’ve been asked if I can frame a signed sports shirt which as I’m just starting out is something I have never done, I did take a good look at the example work pieces on the textile framing stand at the Fine Art Trade Guild weekend that I attende...

Wanted: Library of Professional Picture Framing Vol 5 Mounting Methods

Looking to buy a used copy of Vivian Kistlers book 'Mounting Methods' which is Vol 5 of the Library of Picture Framing Series.

I'd also be interested in other volumes from this series.

Thanks

Re: Courier

I’ve used various couriers for years. Parcel force: reliable but expensive, generally best ‘standard’ insurance. Cheapest is to book online and drop off at a post office, if you are near a depot cheaper again. Parcel monkey/parcel 2 go/inter parcel: generally one of them will have the very cheapest ...

WANTED: Mount Cutter in SW (if poss)

I’m just starting out and am looking for a mount cutter to get me going, ideally a keencut but would consider others. I’m in Cornwall so hopefully there’s one down this way or west Devon if poss, but for the right one can go as far as Chichester along the south coast or maybe up as far as Northampto...

Used Mount Cutter recomendations?

I'm just starting out in framing and setting up a workshop, for years Ive had an old keencut ace thats ive only ever used as a guilotene for paper which I was intending to use for now but it seems i've always been missing the squaring arm for it and as the cutter was discontinued in the 90s Kenncut ...

Wanted: books for a newcomer

I’m also interested in books about the business side of framing as well. If anyone...

Re: Which accounting software.

i use wave accounting which is free, it works really well for my needs and i can invite my accountant in when he needs to go through things.

another consideration, but it means changing banks, is to go with natwest who offer a free accounting package to customers.

Re: I am thinking about starting a blog for my business.

You hugely need to consider the market you are trying to reach, the user demographics of Facebook, insta and Tiktok are all different, and then you’ve got a huge demographic that do not use social media and prefer search engines. Also consider the format of delivery, my 18 year watches a video to le...
