Re: Cassese underpinner musings

Thank you Mark(s), that's really helpful.

So the CS79 would have everything I need to repair the CS88?

Cassese underpinner musings

Just pondering really and wondering about future costs with the Casesse situation. I am starting to run low on some wedges and need to go shopping which has got me looking at spare parts too. I have a CS88 and a CS79. I prefer the CS88 but it does have a habit of jamming. The clamp has never worked ...

Re: Fletcher tab gun - repairable?

Thank you both, I think it will indeed just be a case of seeing how well I can take it apart and if anything is obviously wrong. I got it second hand quite cheaply but I would much rather try and salvage it if at all possible. I do have a fall back Framers Corner gun I can use if I get some tabs, bu...

Fletcher tab gun - repairable?

My Fletcher Framemaster Point Driver decided to have a hissy fit. :? The 'trigger' suddenly has no resistance, no 'click' and won't fire any points. Nothing is jammed that I can see and nothing happened before it just suddenly stopped working. Untitled video - Made with Clipchamp.gif I've been looki...

Ooh I really like those! What did you fix them with? Did you grout between them?

Re: Tiles into coasters?

Well we went with this in the end. I think they are rather large for coasters myself but the customer likes them. A little bit of their house history saved and a nice little project. :-)

Re: Any way to ship a frame with glass?

Thanks all, I've been looking at DHL/DPD etc and they seem to say as Justin says - not insured. Which is interesting as I had a glass item sent from Amazon via DPD with very little packaging yesterday. I'm curious what would have happened had it smashed. I got an online estimate from one of the art ...

Re: Any way to ship a frame with glass?

Ooh thank you all, that gives potential options. Its UK delivery so fairly simple (in fact, probably only 3.5 hours drive). Its not especially valuable but is an original painting for a wedding present and my concern is the glass breaking and damaging the art. The protective film is a good shout. I ...

Any way to ship a frame with glass?

Just wondering. I assume it isn't recommended, but just in case I'm being too cautious. A customer wants to ship the frame and really likes AR70 or museum acrylic. The museum acrylic is out of budget and I really can't see it would be safe to use glass and ship it. Unless there are couriers that wou...

Re: Wanted: Workbench (ideally with mountboard storage), mountboard storage and plan chest - Wales area

Hi both, apologies I'm just catching up. Wheels - noted. And I hadn't thought of using the morso for chopping anything - thanks! I found a complete framing set up for sale within driving distance including all the workbench/storage but alas I was too late. So I will be going down the DIY route and s...

Re: Wanted: Workbench (ideally with mountboard storage), mountboard storage and plan chest - Wales area

Very true, I'm a bit diddier than that and my current bench is a bit too big. But it did only cost £20 from a closing down factory so I can't complain! :)

Happy to build ourselves and I do fancy making it exactly as I want. But worth an ask just in case.

Re: Framing workshop vs retail - planning restrictions and definitions

You speak the truth! My teenage son said similar to me a while ago. I'm just rubbish at following up. (I suspect due in part to a subconscious feeling that I didn't really expect many customers so didn't take it seriously when I set it up) Now things have got real I will, will, - really promise - I'...

Re: Limited edition film/game posters - framing but not quite

Oh I'm not making a penny on these, it is purely a favour. :D They will cover the cost of any materials if I need but labour is free. I don't want to cut any corners though. They are a small business with a big heart and do a huge amount for our local community. They have done a lot to promote me - ...

Wanted: Workbench (ideally with mountboard storage), mountboard storage and plan chest - Wales area

In preparation for my new bigger space!! :D Before I look at building my own, if anyone has a workbench within a couple of hours drive of mid-Wales I would be interested. Ideally with mountboard storage underneath. Or a separate mountboard storage unit Also a plan chest or similar. info@arlaisframin...

Re: Limited edition film/game posters - framing but not quite

Ooh, I'm sure I can find a defunct blind somewhere to experiment with. I have a few of the throwaway posters to experiment on with no repercussions so good shout, thanks! I mentioned the mount for framing but I suppose that will be down to the buyer. But they will also promote me for framing so I ma...

Limited edition film/game posters - framing but not quite

Hi all, I am doing a local business a favour and I am probably overthinking it. They get a fair few gaming/film posters sent to them as POV products which they want to make use of once the promotions are finished. They basically want to have them flattened and then packaged up to be sold or given aw...

And the nerves!

Still a couple of legal hoops to jump through but I’m hoping to be in by the end of the year.
