You know what, I hadn’t even thought of that!! Doh
I was looking for branches of someone like Wessex.
Is it Friday yet?

Anywhere to buy a single sheet of board in Essex/Suffolk?
The back story is too long, just asking on the off chance.
Does anyone know of anywhere that sells single sheets of board in Essex/Suffolk (A14/A12) corridor that would be open on a Saturday?

Re: AR glass (anti reflective)
I do suggest it where I think it is warranted and will push if I think it really needs it. The latest being a signed shirt that is having conservation clear. I’ve found my customers prefer the AR70 look but not the cost of museum, so AR70 wins out. Con clear is just space and extra outlay really, I ...

Re: AR glass (anti reflective)
I now tend to give a price for standard and AR70 automatically, whilst showing the demo frame (mine has sunflowers) and holding a sampler in front of their picture. I would say 30-40% go for the AR70 and that percentage is growing. It sells itself like Prospero says. If someone wants UV protection I...

Chevron display stand - free but needs a little TLC
IMG_6742.jpeg Can anyone use this? It is an old picture as it is currently packed away. I’ll get dimensions later if needed. It only has four leaves instead of five, but I guess you could fabricate a replacement if you were so inclined. It could benefit from a little TLC to smarten it up. I no long...

Re: First time using aluminium frame
A few firsts for me on this one, and a practice run drymounting after finding the same map on eBay. But it has finally been manhandled into submission. Thanks for all your help. I think I will put a framestrap on to be on the safe side. I don’t want it back!

Re: To frame, or not to frame?
Its an interesting one. My own hesitancy has always been in case the documents deteriorate, and also wanting them accessible. (Whilst also being a master of procrastination. ) The customer that came in was asking for an opinion on whether to frame their deeds or not and was quite open to the ...

Thanks JKX. I'm always happy to save money if it doesn't need to be spent so I'll hold off.

Re: To frame, or not to frame?
Thanks. The customer yesterday was thinking of displaying theirs open and are going to come back for a chat. (It was closing time and I had to go). My oldest deeds are folded up, But I would like to be able to take them out and look at the information on the inside occasionally. This is my favourite...

Re: First time using aluminium frame
Just updating. We've chosen a slightly thicker profile and are going for 3mm acrylic directly against the map.
Would it be an idea to use one of these for safety, do you think?

To frame, or not to frame?
Morning all. I've been pondering some items I have, and whether it is a good idea to frame them or not. I have the history of our house through a large collection of deeds, receipts, OS plans, court documents and letters dating back to 1907 through 2008. The oldest are on vellum (or something simila...

Re: First time using aluminium frame
Thanks both! They are leaving it up to me, other than as thin a black frame as they can get away with. So I can go thicker. The map is of no value and easily replaceable if I screw it up, worst case. I have one of those files JKX. 🙂 So, I dry mount to board, use spacers (econospace ok?) and slide ev...

First time using aluminium frame
I have a map in, and the customer wants as thin a black frame as they can get away with. I am assuming aluminium would be best but I've never used it before. Size: 1200 x 690. Wow Prospero! Nothing available in the Frinton section of Wessex so it’s back to the customer for a chat now.

Re: Moulding ID please
Ooh, I hadn't heard of them! Just had a good look through their website though. Still nothing.
The lady brought in 2 prints from a charity shop - one framed, one mounted and wondered if I could match the frame to make a pair. Not so it seems, unless she has them both done.

Moulding ID please
I've been asked if I can match this and have gone through Larson, Lion, DJ Simons, Wessex and Welsh Framing catalogues with no joy.
Does anyone recognise it at all please? Or suggest something close?
Thanks!
