Re: Methods to this fabric panel please?

I knew there would be a couple of different options and I didn't want to go wrong from the off. :D Yes, it backed with vylene-type-stuff and really rather stiff. I doubt they will stretch to acrylic, I will have another conversation though and decide with them. I suspect the close frame/spacers will...

Re: Methods to this fabric panel please?

If of low value and with consent it could be hotpress adhered to a board. It isn't of huge value but they don't want it stuck down. [/quote] Will it stretch over foamboard or is it too stiff? Why not just frame as is? It doesn't look as though it will wrinkle, so simply sit it on backing board the ...

Re: Methods to this fabric panel please?

Sorry, the brown edging around the fabric is what they want hidden, but they want to see as much of the wide golden border as possible. It looks much more golden in real life! I have laced and pinned cross stitch and needlepoint before but not anything like this. It is a stiff fabric and so I...

Methods to this fabric panel please?

Hello again, I have framed a few textiles but this style is new to me. It is a fairly stiff panel. They don't want the brown edge showing, but as much of the gold border as I can, no mount and AR70. How would you guys approach it? I suspect there are a couple of different ways. The fabric is 600 x 6...

I am thinking I might go for that actually. I have lots of random bits of strip wood. Thanks!

Re: Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?

Thanks - rough and ready is no problem. Glueing some wood/MDF seems and a D-ring seems easiest and cheapest I reckon. Just PVA or something stronger?

I wondered about Velcro but think they want to hang on string.

Any way to hang an unframed canvas board?

It isn't really a 'help', more of a 'can it be done'? The standard off-the-peg canvas boards that artists use - maybe 3mm thick? Are there any fixings that can be put on the back to hang them as they are? No frame wanted, just to display as cheaply as possible. I've been asked, so have been browsing...

Re: Hoffman stuff

So is their 'standard' one not an mu2? Although I don't know why I'm sweating this point Apparently not, it seems like Lions might have a deal with Hoffmann on a lesser known smaller model. I think @wannabeframer just bought the "standard", she'll be able to tell you the model number. I h...

Re: Waves and mould inside frame

Thank you all, I have contacted a conservator to see what they think. The customer can then decide.

Waves and mould inside frame

This has been brought in to see if anything can be done. I haven't opened it up yet but it was framed by a gallery and I would assume has been hinged correctly etc. There is a damp 'tide mark' on the backing board, although the customer says it hasn't got wet, so we assume probably a damp wall. They...

Wanted - Hoffmann dovetailer

I'm in the market for a Hoffmann dovetailer and have been keeping an eye on ebay etc. If anyone hears of anything, please give me a shout - the entry level manual one. I'm in mid-Wales and willing to travel 2-3 hours.

Thanks,

Re: Fabric backed map - how to fix?

Yeah, I see what you mean about the worth. Maybe I’ve got a bit too emotionally attached to it as I just love old maps/books/documents/dogs 😆 I instantly assumed it should be handled with kid gloves. The customer probably isn’t fussed, as so I will have a conversation with them. And I’ve bought a sp...

Re: Fabric backed map - how to fix?

I wouldn’t want to even if the customer suggested it really. It doesn’t have a date but is old enough to be treated as carefully as I can.
