Re: weights for holding down prints
Paperweights - plenty around cheaply on ebay and far more attractive and professional to customers than offcuts of glass.

Re: Fabric backed map - how to fix?
Done plenty of these over the years one way or another, but they won't flatten and it is best to advise the customer so. I have drymounted them but now just flatten them for a while under weights, with little results,TBH, and tape them to an undermount if a top mat is wanted or just sandwich them be...

Bit of an aside, but have just bought a box of 10mm Universal replacements from you for my Euro and the wedges are working perfectly, to my mind better than the Universals.

Re: Morso Mitre handle stuck on 13th tooth arc
It is almost certainly due to sticky through a lack of lubrication. I've had my own Morso starting to get a ittle bit stuck and needed to lubricate it through the little hole on top of the flat cast iron surface in front of the pivoting fences. There's a small countersunk hole there, which I only r...

Re: HELP WITH Canvas FRAMING
I have used Canvas Mount Cor successfully for these things. Tried Perfectmount and one or two others but wasn't convinced of their adhesion.Lion have in in their range, at least they did when I last ordered some.

Re: Dry mount plastic "canvas"?
Following posts on a FB page I have been using Mount Cor successfully for these cheap "canvases". It is American but Lion sell it, along with instructions, and it bonds them perfectly.

Re: How long have you been a framer?
Started in 1970 in the family woodyard, but it was basic joiners framing back then , with what in hindsight was a real paucity of choice of mouldings and mount board - I sometimes wonder how many frames I've made using 1/2" hogarth and 1/2" spoon - Still framing on fifty two years later qu...

Re: Chinese plastic canvases
Thanks. I have some KoolTak that I might try and of that doesn't work then I'll get something from Wessex. It being December time is of the essence of course....
Spray adhesive plus a cold spell in the vacuum press was another suggestion but I use sprays as a very much last option.

Chinese plastic canvases
I have a set of these to do and was advised via an American group to use Mount Cor. Is this available in the UK or is there an alternative that would do the job. It is a low temp adhesive board.

Re: guillotine advice
I have a "new" shop compared to some -Victorian - with attendant damp problems and ditched MDF years ago because of its hygroscopic tendencies. An Eco Air Simple dehumidifer is in constant use, plumbed in to an outside drain and it takes a tank's worth and more out of the place daily. I do...

Came across this on a framers FB group. She was using it to hold an object in a shadow box. Has anyone here been working with this?

Re: Does anyone have any idea what the usual going rate is for offering a gift wrapping service to customers?
When we did gifts as the major part of the business - changed days....- we offered a free gift wrap service that was very popular and added greatly to footfall and sales. I still do it if asked for framing and it is still gratis - the cost of some fancy paper and a spool or two of curling ribbon is ...

Re: Football shirts
I go for a loose finish with some folds showing - its fabric and should reflect that to my mind. If it is going to be displayed absolutely flat and stretched you might as well just photograph it and frame that. I only do it like that by specific request and the almost total preferment of my customer...

Pops up frequently on the framers FB page and it can be put in a vacuum press OK. I've done several on foam board to give rigidity as they are large and they have come out all right.
