Pre-cut 12” Vinyl Mats.

Can you buy pre-cut mat board for 12” vinyl LPs? Where the album cover has the album sticking out. I’ve seen them cut but I don’t have the facilities to cut something like that.

Re: Underpinned is crushing frames.

I haven’t checked the wedges, I’ll have a look. I have noticed that they tend to go in with a “bang” which might be them in the wrong way I suppose.

It doesn’t really crush flat moulding since I added the pads, it’s usually these with a high spot on the profile.

Underpinned is crushing frames.

I have an old Pistorious manual underpinner and it keeps crushing frames as it pushes frames in.

When I bought it the top piece that applied pressure from above was just a flat metal piece that came down. it was marking some frames so I fitted a felt pad to the bottom, but it’s still crushing frames.

Stitching or Microtags for Mounting Shirts?

I've tried both for mounting shirts to 5mm foam board, both as an insert and a backing for the shirt and I have problems with both methods.

The microtags are good for clipping the shirt back, tagging it to itself, but not very good for attaching the shirt to thr foam board. I've tried it from ...

Re: Servicing my newly-purchased Model F Morso

I bought a 2nd hand F from a guy that had kept it in a basement for years. I cleaned all the gunk off the metal with some white spirit & a scotch pad, applied some machine wax to keep it from going rusty, used it for a couple of months and then had the blades sharpened.

That's it.

Stinky shirts!

A potential customer came to ask about framing a match worn and signed football shirt, mainly because his wife says it stinks 😅

I said I wasn’t so sure framing it would help with the smell, and it’s been signed as well so can’t be wasted. Would something like fabreze help?

How do others deal with ...

Light or Oak Scooped Moulding.

I'm trying to find a supplier of a light coloured scooped moulding for a picture that has quite a lot of light blue, the light wood colour would go nicely with it and go well with other frames the customer (my Mum!) has too. Ideally somethign just under 2 inches wide, maybe 40-45mm and with a scoop ...

Re: Keencut Laser help

I'm in the same boat, just got a 2nd hand Laser 1200 and mine came with the manual. I'd definitely go with the manual rather than a video as getting it calibrated & dialled in, it's a simple process once you get the hang of it, if a little repetitive.

The manual is here https://www.keencut.com ...

Re: Mounting a ZX Spectrum.

Cool, they're both good ideas. The back is removable so the melinex wrap method would work, and as far as I know the device does still work so I would like it to be reversible ideally but they're quite a common item and it's not exactly in pristine condition now so something like removing the rubber ...

Mounting a ZX Spectrum.

I'm working on a shadow box and a search of the forum reveals very little if I search for ZX Spectrum, the search ignores ZX so I just get Spectrum & they're all about the light spectrum :-)

So, here's what I'm thinking.

The Speccy itself is relatively heavy, I'm not sure the mylar straps would be ...

WANTED: Blade sharpening in Sheffield.

I’m after a place to get my Morso blades sharpened and living in Sheffield you’d think that would be the perfect place to get them done.

Are there any places you’d recommend locally?

Re: I’m struggling right now.

Here’s a photo of the blades. They were stored unused for years in a basement and a garage.

There’s a lot of what looks like staining on the blades that the white spirit, steel wool and scotch pads couldn’t shift.

Is it worth having them sharpened or just skip straight to a new pair?

Thanks for all the replies, I'm definitely going to do a more in depth course at some point when I have the money. After inesting in a couple of machines to make things easier the whole thing needs to wash it's own face as it were, anything I buy has to come out of the money I make from making ...

I’m struggling right now.

I’ve only been making frames since September, and only as a “side hustle” for family and friends right now and I started off on a high, tight corners, sharp edges… I felt like King Frames of Framistan!

But now I’m struggling.

I’ve hit a bit of a trough where nothing I make is up to the standard I ...
