Re: Best product or method to fill holes on bare frame ?

I had to look into what Osmo wood filler was on line. It is a water based filler and the manufacturer does not have a MDS sheet for the product on-line. What size nails are you using? Are you attempting to lime finish the frame before ...

Best product or method to fill holes on bare frame ?

Hi
I have a frame that I wanted to just lime and wax but I needed to clamp the corners so now I have the small holes - I know I can just fill these with wood filler ( osmo ) but then the lime looks odd on those sections , is there anything better to plug the holes with then lime ?
Thanks in advance

Or just use osmo Polyox oil, which you rub on let dry and buff. I have even stained it before putting on, that works quite well as well.

Re: Wax for a black painted finish

I use osmo polyox oil in black. I paint the wood with 3 coats of Sandex smooth black masonry paint then a coat od the polyox, leave to dry then buff. It gives a hard wearing finish.

I like the osmo wax varnishes, they are spirit based and you can mix then
m and or add spirit stains or oil cour to them.

Osmo Polyx is excellent. Used it on a new oak banister rail at home. Lovely smooth satin finish, easy to clean and tough too.

... to gilt cream. I find harder waxes take an age to rub up or you have to leave them for a while before you can rub them. For bare wood I like using Osmo Polyox Clear. Gives a nice durable satin finish great on oak and obeche. :D

... completed. If you want a tougher finish than just wax, you might consider using one of the polymerised oil finishes, or a clear acrylic finish. Osmo polyox oil gets mentioned a lot on this forum, I'm yet to try it, but many forum members speak highly of it.

Re: White Oak Handrail

Thanks for the Osmo Polyx recommendation. Worked a treat on the banister.

Feels just like wax. I will definitely use it on frames in the future. Slightly different shade to neutral wax but very effective and much quicker.
